I’m here in NJ. Glad to hear that you are ok! Lots of people in NJ don’t have power and there are huge lines at gas stations for gas for their generators. My phone & power came on the middle of last nite so I consider myself very blessed. However, I have family down the shore area and Long Beach Island and I don’t know if that house is still standing. Everyone had to evacuate and it will be at least a couple days before they let people back on to LBI. The shoreline area took a huge hit.

From Moorestown NJ suburb of Philadelphia, just got power restored at 7:00AM today. Cooked on the gas grill. House inside temperature dropped to low 50’s. Lots of large trees down in our town. Halloween postponed til Monday. No problem with gasoline in this part of the state.

Lower Middlesex county, CT. No power at home but I’m at work. I bought a 6000W generator when I built my house twelve years ago. My wife and two sons are home enjoying limited power.

Connecticut, at least in my area, was spared the devastation that a good portion of the rest of lower new England and the mid Atlantic got.

Prayers up for them

Jersey City. Power came back on about an hour ago so I can finally read FR! Gas should be back in a few hours the workmen tell us.

Personally, the street my car was parked on was flooded. Eyewitness told me the water came up to the roof of my car. Needless to say, my car is history. It’s just a car, I fared better than others did so I will not complain, just grateful I am OK.

..northwest Morris cty NJ here...waited two hours this AM for gas at a closed gas station (was told last night they would open at 5am)...I was about 30th in line when we were told the gas shipment didn’t arrive overnight, but it was due...
4:40am police arrive to make sure things remained peaceful...seems others had an idea where the line was to begin..*smiles*...police got that in order real quick....mean while no shipment
5:15am people gathering, others finding out no gas yet, BUT NOT LEAVING,(no other place to go) overall people behaving...
5:50am gas station workers mulling about, lights come on, muted cheer along the line....
6:05 still very dark and line on headlights on shoulder stretches 3/4 mile...
6:30 cheers from the back of the line as tanker truck comes down highway, pulls in gas station, cops (7or8) position themselves as “ushers” to funnel in drivers to station...yes,it had to be this way, because there are stupid people out there.
6:45 the line starts to move and within ten minutes I’m at the pump,”fill er up”...done, yippee!
7:05 working my way home...there’s approx, 24 gas stations within a 7 mile radius of where I live....it’s not a supply issue yet, it’s a power issue, out of the 24 stations, 19 have no electricity, no pumps. The ones that have power run out of gas within a few hours, and close down the pumps, waiting for shipments, the store part remains open selling water, coffee, snacks etc..

The “out of” issues haven’t really taken hold yet, some supermarkets are packed(open) and getting stocks replenished regularly, getting there may be a problem if your low on gas...(gas cans were sold out on Saturday)...a two hour wait is normal when a shipment comes in...that problem will ease as the power returns....slowly.
Urban areas first,(most populated), most populated rural, next, and so on.....

As far as needs,it’s workers,...power co employees by the thousands have been “borrowed”....tree removal firms from as far away as Ill,Ohio, and Tenn are here...Power workers from CA, have been flown into Long Island,NY....so as far as are needs....it’s patience , as least were I am.

Norwalk, CT here. Power is still out in my neighborhood. They’ve indicated it might take a few more days to complete. The storm didn’t seem all that bad, I’ve seen worse overall, but the gusts got up to hurricane strength around 75mph or so. There are trees down all over the place – in my immediate neighborhood, large trees fell on four houses. My church used to be surrounded by majestic 75’ pines – no more. Some fell on the ground, some fell on the roof. Next door to my father in law’s house, an enormous pine fell across the road and onto the house across the street.

We're in a funny spot - Long Island Sound is shaped like a V with the open side facing east to the ocean. When the wind blows out of the east, the tides don’t go completely out and the water piles up in the western Sound, where I am. We had astronomical high tides over 12’ above normal. The part of my town near the water was submerged. The low part of main street in Westport was 4 ½ feet underwater. One low income apartment complex in Norwalk was 5’ under and they are talking about just demolishing it – too much damage. My favorite burger joint down by the water was washed out to sea. The pool house at the swim club we used to belong to was demolished as well.

Just spoke with the Mission Church pastor in my town. A huge U-haul truck is being sent to New Jersey filled with food and clothing as soon as it can be loaded.

Souderton, PA here. Lights flickered Monday night, never lost power. Parents live two miles away - they’ve been without power for three days with no estimate of restoration. My sister lives just across town - out of power with no estimate of restoration. Everybody hunkered down in my house! All the body heat helps keep the pellet stove from running, so I guess I’m saving money!
