The residents of Staten Island are pleading for help from elected officials, begging for gasoline, food and clothing three days after Sandy slammed the New York City borough.
Were going to die! Were going to freeze! We got 90-year-old people! Donna Solli told visiting officials. You dont understand. You gotta get your trucks down here on the corner now. Its been three days!
Staten Island was one of the hardest-hit communities in New York City. More than 80,000 residents are still without power. Many are homeless, and at least 19 people died on Staten Island because of the storm.
One of the devastated neighborhoods was overwhelmed by a violent surge of water. Residents described a super-sized wave as high as 20 feet, with water rushing into the streets like rapids.
I’m pretty sure Barry Soetoro went to get some pizza.
Whats the difference, you ask?
Not to make light of it, but why is Husein seemingly scoring political points off this storm, when all you heard 24/7 after Katrina was how Bush screwed up N.O.
Bronco Bamma to the rescue!
Damn that Mitt Romney for collecting these items for those people! /s
Staten Island is heavily Italian and GOP. It’s the ‘forgotten borough’ of NYC, so different than the others.
Because the memo went out to say Obama looks presidential.
However, stories like this hurt Obama. His fault. Why ate people eating put of dumpsters?
Who assigns the "points"?
THE SCUM SUCKING LIBERAL PRESS, THAT'S WHO!
So what do you expect?
NYC to be full of little trailers soon?
Bambi will save you.
FEMA, FEMA, where for art thou FEMA.
Have they airdropped EBT cards yet?
They should call MSNBC. Andrea Mitchell says that the storm victims don’t need no food and water like Romney was going to deliver to them.
I wonder if Andrea and her 1%’er hubby are down there rolling up their sleeves for storm victims.
I can guess they are not.
What are they complaining about?
They’re getting a free Springsteen concert / Obama rally.

Mitt Romney was asking and getting donations, but NOOOOO the American Red Cross and the almighty government can do it all. There are many lessons here, but the fault does not lie with people of New York and New Jersey.
Put this at the feet of the EPA, a mountain red tape and dependency. The situation is deteriorating rapidly and Obama isn’t helping with his fancy photo ops and words.
I’m still waiting for Zero to slap Craig Fugate of FEMA on the back and tell him he’s doing a great job.
Let’s see...millions without power; hospitals being forced to evacuate; essential items in short supply; near-riots at gas stations, and New Yorkers dumpster=diving for food. Yeah, Barry’s got the situation well in hand.
Obama got in for the photo op and out before the shock turned to frustration and anger.
Anyody who has been near a disaster knows the anger and frustration comes after the shock before help has arrived.
For those who haven't experience it don't bad-mouth these people. Regardless of how prepared you are, sometimes the storms leave people without food or shelter that is ...gone with the wind and storm surge.
Sometimes it has NOTHING to do with personal responsibility...like people clinging to trees with their homes washed away!
There is no food in the grocery stores. Obama and his teams could not organize their way out of a paper bag. By election day...there will be riots.
I notice Shep and Geraldo aren’t screaming this time around.
Katrina response was way faster. By this time, there were already cruise ships in the river taking aboard refugees, FEMA trucks were arriving with massive shipments of food, helicopters were dropping supplies, thousands of FEMA trailers were in route, Bush ordered gas from the petroleum reserved released, and governor Perry was sending buses from Houston to evacuate people in the Superdome to Texas.
Wheres your dollar? Sen. Obama voted against Stafford waiver for New Orleans two weeks before speech
Great job Fugie.
“We leave nobody behind” - Barack Hussein Obama
Just be glad you are not Americans in Benghazi with Obama watchin’ your six.
NBC news had video and a big story of people dumpster diving in NYC tonite.
Obama’s Katrina..of course the media won’t report on this because it makes their messiah look bad..I am waiting for the likes of Kanye West to start saying that Obama doesn’t care about Staten Island
Probably because it’s NYC and all the democrats are from the NE.
Yeah, I’ve never seen such sincerity in a politician before...it rivals that of Obama.
Well, shep and geraldo are screaming, but not about the souls who were deserted by obama - can’t have that.
No, shep wants to make sure all us dummies realize the hurricane is due to glow bull warming - and he screamed, “keep your politics out of my face.”
And I heard geraldo screaming at Hannity right before Sandy hit land, but I didn’t stick around to hear what that was about.
After everything that Obama has done they still complain, jeesh.
“We’re Going To Die” Ungrateful New Yorkers Whine
It’s pretty easy to keep a couple weeks of food and water on hand at all times. You don’t need a bunker. Just be prepared.
It's more ironic when you listen to the TODAY'S THE DAY WE LOWER THE SEA LEVELS Video while reading the article.
When the financial system implodes, things are going to get REAL interesting. Lock and load.
As Moochelle seys “Hail Barack!” How can Americans even tolerate her daring to say that at a rally?!!!
Plenty of difference. The lower Ninth flooded because a defective federal flood control structure failed. Those who had prepossessed found their supplies under water, along with their cars. Those who flooded on Staten island did so because they ignored warnings.
Like Katrina, they had plenty of warning.
Some people just won’t take a hint.
I have to believe that people in Staten Island have winter clothes.
Yeah, I’m kind of confused about the clothes thing too.
Good Lord. The dependence on government is awful. It destroys the human spirit, it destroys the family and it is destroying America. This is the heart of liberalism. Where are all the liberal neighbors?
Actually, the little b—tard was screwing up traffic in Las Vegas again today.
“Appearing presidential” was he?
“Its pretty easy to keep a couple weeks of food and water on hand at all times. You dont need a bunker. Just be prepared.”
And if your house is washed away you just swim to it and retrieve the supplies? And where do you store these supplies once you retrieve them? Sometimes I have to check and make sure I’m not on Politico
probably begging for more money
And when the whole house is washed away I guess the stored food and water goes with it! As you sit there at your keyboard it's really easy to second guess those who are standing in the cold with their whole world washed away. People like you make me ashamed sometimes that I consider myself a conservative. Your comments/attitude is anything but conservative.
I have a stockpile of both food and water but if my house got flooded and/or washed away I'd be SOL wouldn't I. I guess you's say that I didn't plan enough or that I wasn't prepared enough. You're an ass.
My fellow Italian Americans don’t matter. If they were blacks or liberal Wall Street Jews they would not be ignored. I’m in the Bronx and we too are on our own.
My thoughts exactly!!! And here I thought FR was a conservative forum.
