I have been listening to and reading the news the past few days - including today. The news cable channel I watch is FOX. The election news bizarre.
The past couple days I hear and read that Romney has the edge in early voting. Than on FNC about four hours ago, they report Obama has the early voting lead. An hour after that, another report on FNC states Romney has the early voting lead. Now I hear that Obama has the early voting lead.
The last few days, Romney has the lead. Than today, Obama has the lead. Than another report has it tied.
What the hell is going on? Is the media - including FNC - just making this up to gin up ratings?
Brett Bier reports that now Rove is stating that Romney has lost the momentum due to Sandy and the Obama/Krispy Kreme Christie factor and that it is again tightening up. However, Michael Barone comes out and calls it for Romeny yesterday. Bier says Rove is a numbers guy so he sees something that gives him pause. Yet no mention today at all concerning Barone. The only thing I have seen on him was on Greta's show last night.
I think Romney is going to win. I pray and hope he does. The momemtum seems to be going his way. Yet these contradictory reports give me an uneasy feeling. What is the opinion of other Freepers?
If I was a drinker I would have been pounding them down since the first convention. I am optimistic and it saddens me more than it worries me that it is so close. Are that many Americans really so clueless?
First of all, there are NO actual election returns yet, so we don’t know who has actually received votes, however it is known which party a voter is registered so certain assumptions can be made. For instance, historically democrats vote in higher numbers during early voting, while Republicans vote in larger numbers using absentee ballots and on day of election. In comparing the early voter turnout in 2008 with 2012, it appears that fewer democrats and more Republicans are voting this time. The bottom line is on election day it is crucial that there is a huge turnout of Romney voters to bring this in for a landing!
Funny. Usually I am guilty of always using then.
I have watched very little network TV news since early 2010 including Fox, all of them refuse to touch the truth about Obama's Marxist soul, I have very little trust in any of them.
All of them (including Fox) are just trying to get ratings.
Check the polls Monday night, if you must, because they will all want to be in the ballpark; but, even those polls are doubtful. Being wrong doesn’t seem to matter anymore.
When in doubt, insert the phrase “at that time”. If the phrase works it should be “THEN”.
My general rule of thumb.
Go to DU and they all seem to think that Obama will win in a walk, and the FReepers are cherry picking polls just to keep their courage up.
They worship at the altar of Nate Silver.
One side or the other is going to be very, very shocked on Tuesday.
My gen rule of thumb - if someone misspells something - which happens a lot here - I tend to ignore it.
lol, me too.
Media folks need ratings, and blowouts don’t get ratings. On Youtube you can find a promo Walter Kronkite did in 980 saying the election was going to come down to the wire, so watch CBS evening news...
RASMUSSEN today wrote that it’s a toss up. He’s not predicting a winner because he does not know, based on his polls, who will win. Also the Skinny Socialist has an approval number today of 51%. UGH!
This an example of how FOX keeps their reporting fair and balanced. Some for you and some for you, everybody gets their fair share.
Exactly. Would people be tuning into fox if everyone was saying it was over. I recall being nervous about Carter winning. They were calling it tight for Kerry/bush.
We don’t know until you know. I don’t have a ton of liberal friends...so I cannot tell you the “feeling in the air.” But I still have to rake the leaves and finish up some work tomorrow. Tuesday will be here soon enough. And the sun will come up Wednesday—just as it always has.
Usually, they try to demoralize the Right by talking about a blowout for the Left. In this cycle, the Right is doing so much better than anyone anticipated that they have to do all they can to try to bolster the Left in the hope of getting them to vote. Don’t bite your nails unless it looks bad around 9:30 PM Eastern on the 6th...
I think Romney is going to surprise some people when elected.
I don’t think he would sit by and watch Americans being murdered.
Would Romney sit by and watch Americans being killed without trying to help ? That should be enough to want him out of the WH.
