In the time you’re wasting watching that video, every rap artist in America could write, record and mix an album!

Fascinating. Thanks for posting. I had no idea.

I hope I wasn’t the only one singing along with that. Sheesh, when I think of the amount of brain-space I have tied up with the lyrics, timing, breathing, melodies, harmonies, and vocal muscle control for the songs of the 70’s and 80’s...if I could free up that space I’d be actually smart. :-)

You are an ass. Anti-gay or not, that was uncalled for.

Queen has always sucked. Why anyone would want to watch a buck-toothed homo hop around in spandex singing crappy pop is beyond me. Then again, some people like Lady Gaga.

Some have noticed similarities, and I agree. As a fan of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Madness” has grown on me.

“...Brian is a good guitarist,,, but that’s it! Hated Vanilla Fudge too!”

How about King Crimson? Just what is your comfort level with rock operettas?

“Just what is your comfort level with rock operettas?”

My comfort level is very low for pseudo-intellectual rock junk. I have recorded with Neil Zaza, a classically trained guitarist. His work blows Queens stuff outa the water,,, but Mercury woulda liked that description, Queen. He took a fairly good Rock band, Smiles, and turned it into a homosexual-oriented pop band. I think the management was looking for a sales benefit. Freddy was incredibly creepy! I’m quite surprised by how many FReepers like the cr@p they spewed! A couple of good players, and a raging “Queen”! Indeed!

This is my favorite cover version:

Richard Castellano {currently of Blue Oyster Cult} does "Bohemian Rhapsody".

This guy has talent, did the whole thing, every part himself, and did it well. (I am not a fan of Queen, per se, but I appreciate their work)

Queen’s episode of VH1’s Behind the Music (if you’re old enough to remember the show) is my all time favorite because it went so far against the norm. All the other episodes of that show run a very solid pattern: band struggles, band makes it, band enjoys the excesses of wealth, band recovers from drugs, struggle for power as members that weren’t the leader vie for power so they can “express themselves”, band finds new path. Queen’s episode was totally out of the norm, they didn’t freak out with drugs, Freddie eventually walks into the studio and says “well what do you guys want to do”. Really if it wasn’t for Freddie’s illness and death there would be nothing bad in the entire episode. It’s actually kind of comical if you watched enough of the show, even though you never hear or see the interviewers you can clearly tell they’re very confused.

Really the only cool part was the last part. May was able
to dial in a good tone but that was about it. In fact really,
Mays tone was about the only thing that made Queen
interesting to me. Nowdays all you need is a Mesa Roadking Yeaaaa. Mays tone with massive bottom end. Hay, delta blues is cool, if you play it real fast...
