Mormonism, I believe unfortunately, cost Romney this election. Why do I say this? All the data and hard vote totals point to Evangelicals staying home. The exit polls show it in both Ohio and Virginia. My republican precinct in VA, with a CHiristian Conservative base, went from 1800 votes in 2004 and 2008 to 1500 votes yesterday.
Obama has one of the worst records in presidential history, Romney ran a solid campaign leaps and bounds ahead of McCain, who ran against hope and change, fainting, and messianic prophecies, and all he had to show for it was Indiana and North Carolina. Mormonism is the explaination.
While other issues were at play this was my first conclusion this morning as well. That and the fact that 1 out of 2 voters is an idiot!

Obama has successfully cobbled together a ruling coalition of the stupid, the lazy and the racially aggrieved. The fact there are sufficient numbers of those for him to succeed is the REAL problem we face.
You mean that the cause was Mormonism itself?

When faced with a choice between someone who corrupts the Constitution and one who corrupts the Gospel, I guess they chose the former or neither.
I guess they'd rather have a muslim than a Mormon. The saying "Cut your nose off to spite your face" certainly applies here and they will find out the hard way.
I am a three legged stool conservative, and I value the religious right, but if this continues to prove out, it is greatly disturbing. This is the wing that gave us Akin, who pretty much downed the whole campaign nationally. That ridiculous quote reinvigorated the war on women meme that had pretty much died out in the spring. It also gave a slew of Senate candidates fodder to win over women. It is not a coincidence that Warren in MA recovered from bad polling immediately after playing the Akin bites in her ads. Those words drove at least 5% of women right out of our party.
If Evangelicals want a seat at the table, they need to show up and vote every time like the rest of us. Fiscal and military voters are always there, whether the candidate is ‘our guy’ or not.
This should prove to Rove, Krauthammer, Barone and the rest of the GOP-e that they will never win another election without the full throated support of the Evangelical base. When only a portion stays home, their candidate loses.
The Republican Party should be aware that simply running a business-friendly nominee will never be successful.
You cannot vote for a Mormom but yet put a Muslim in the White House again. The voter in the U.S. is the most uninformed person.
I see it as evengelicals staying home because they did not want a Mormon in the White House. And now Obama will continue to appoint judges that will further curtail freedom of religion for everybody.
I really don’t think it was Mormonism, at least not to any great extent. I think it is just the simple fact that the most stupid, the most ignorant, and the non-producing entitlement minded moochers are in control of the ballot box now, and America is doomed to has-been status. Thanks a lot liberals.
Glenn Beck is crying (again) this morning.
Looks like GBTV will be replaced by some show like Dancing with the stars or similar.
I will be cancelling my subscription.
I need to conserve my resources, hunker down and look after my family now.
Was it Mormonism, or was it the GOP-e/Romney largely ignoring the evangelicals/TEA Party?

I think Romney lost because the fix was in for Obama. There is no other explanation.
The evangelicals, so concerned with abortion and gay marriage, had an opportunity to put the brakes on, but they, and self-proclaimed “true conservatives” would rather have Obama, I guess. If you are an evangelical who stayed home because you couldn’t vote for a Mormon, you are have, in essence, acquiesed on the issue of abortion and gay marriage. Hey, they don’t call us the stupid party for nothing! Our side stayed home when they could have slowed or even turned the tide, but nooooo!!!!!!!!!!! Romney was a RINO, he is a Mormon and that’s a cult! Let’s vote third party! Johnson! Goode! Let’s brag about how idealogically pure we are while Obama gets a second term to completely drive the stake through tghe heart of the Republic!
If any Evangelicals - if anybody in America for that matter - refused to vote out the Obamanation because they were sidelined then they have only themselves to blame.
Not only now, but at their personal judgement.
Because if this is true, they have made the perfect the enemy of the good. They have accepted the plank in Obama’s eye because of the chip in Romney’s eye.
I hope to God this is not so. I hope to God that no voting bloc in America is waiting for Christ himself to stand for election, and won’t vote for anyone else. That would be bizarre quietism. That would be passive acceptance of evil.
What you mean to say is that a mormon candidate generates treason from a whole layer of fundamentalists.

This is a bad time, and I think a lot of us are willing to apportion blame. And I’m sorry for my own prejudices in this matter.
RR ran a good campaign with good enthusiasm, only to mysteriously lose on the night.
We know the Democrats fixed PA: they did that in broad daylight. We should carefully examine the voting stats for the other swing states.
