After the auto unions supported bammy, would you ever consider buying a car from the Big Three again?
I feel very, very strongly that we've become a country of ‘if it's good for me, I don't care about you’, and that the unions personify this to the utmost. They have no problem selling the rest of us down the river, and will use the power of the vote to do so. Why would anyone in their right mind want to support the salaries of people who would do this?
In a word - No.
In another word - Toyota.

I always buy good, used. Independent small auto dealers. Local. Just Ford. Chrysler is building crap, and so is GM.
tstarr, that’s a great idea. I’m sure plenty of us FReepers have thought along those lines and if you and your wife bring the idea forward and need FReeper assistance with local businesses across this nation and with additional input about larger businesses, I’ll bet you’ll get a lot of good help.

Last I heard, South Korea was a Republic with a capitalist economy, so at least they're not a bunch of union commies. I'm not sure what the reference to China is about, unless it pertains to the new GM plants which will ship their crap back here.
Obviously you are clueless. Last I heard, Hyundai's headquarters are in South Korea and many of their parts are manufactured in China.

Name me a car that doesn't have any Chinese parts, it certainly won't be a GM product.
Officially, Sonatas, at least in 2011 were manufactured using 41% U.S. made parts and 58% South Korean made parts.
GM is the one investing in China, it's on the 'net look it up.

The Suzuki Grand Vitara is also a great looking vehicle, but I read they filed for bankruptcy yesterday and are going to stop selling cars in the U.S. One of the reasons they listed for leaving was the heavy regulatory burden and costs of doing business in the U.S. They don’t need the U.S. as they are very strong in both Japan and now India. Just another business casualty of liberal governance. Goodbye, Suzuki!
Toyota USA may be some place like Calif or NYC but when the decided to build full size pickups their PR qutoe was, “ We want to be involved in the truck culture and make sure our products fit the biggest share of the market.” When you see their trucks you know they got the cultrue down. Big sleak hard working....mmmmmm.
