UFO enthusiasts admit the truth may not be out there after all

For decades, they have been scanning the skies for signs of alien activity.

But having failed to establish any evidence for the existence of extraterrestrial life, Britain’s UFO watchers are reaching the conclusion that the truth might not be out there after all.

Enthusiasts admit that a continued failure to provide proof and a decline in the number of “flying saucer” sightings suggests that aliens do not exist after all and could mean the end of “Ufology” – the study of UFOs – within the next decade.

Dozens of groups interested in the flying saucers and other unidentified craft have already closed because of lack of interest and next week one of the country’s foremost organisations involved in UFO research is holding a conference to discuss whether the subject has any future.

Dave Wood, chairman of the Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena (Assap), said the meeting had been called to address the crisis in the subject and see if UFOs were a thing of the past.

“I think that any UFO researcher would tell you that 98 per cent of sightings that happen are very easily explainable. One of the conclusions to draw from that is that perhaps there isn’t anything there. The days of compelling eyewitness sightings seem to be over.”

My feelings are this, I do believe in God and I do feel he created other planets and intelligent life, but I’m not all that into little green men, though.

There are probably millions of other civilizations out there in the vastness of the universe, but we each move in our own bubble of space time and blip into and out of existence with very little hope of interaction.

The distances of space and time are too vast to overcome.

The days of compelling eyewitness sightings seem to be over.

And yet these days nearly everyone is walking around with a camera.

Ufology has become the religion of the kookie left. I use to follow ufo stories and the people who researched it for over thirty years and I’ve found most of researchers are “secular humanists” and extremely liberal. The stuff they show on the History Channel is insane.

I agree that others are out there but God decided to make all of us so far away that we can’t screw around with each other, just ourselves!

I guess it never occurred to these people that Earthlings just may be the most advanced civilization in the Universe.

Probably never know for sure, but its fun looking....

There’d BETTER be SOME intelligent life in the universe, somewhere.....

(aside from on FR, of course!)

“Probably never know for sure, but its fun looking.... “

SETI gives motivation for some to become even more advanced even though they probably won’t find anything.

I find a pattern in these abduction/contact stories that the aliens seem to come here to warn us about nuclear war, environmental degredation, or some such catastrophy. All of these ills they warn about are liberal pet causes, and if they were true, we don't need someone flying across the galaxy to get here and tell us about it because we already know about it. They are just projections of the "abductee's" state of mind.

If aliens want to warn us that some quantum space thread is going to pass through Earth and collapse us into a black hole, then I'm ok with them giving a warning and providing instructions to deal with it. Nuclear war? We got it, it is bad. Thanks. Could have saved the trip though.

Just because they haven’t dropped by, doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

Not looking up my facts now. Just gonna go from memory.
There was an author who wrote a story about visitors from another world traveling our planet in a hot air balloon .
This was around the time either the hot air balloon was just invented or just used in America .

There were people who swore that they saw visitors from another world in a hot air balloon .

So maybe they really did come here in a hot air balloon and saw that we were primitive and decided to move onto another planet.

I like what Stephen Hawkings said that maybe it’s not a good idea to reach out to other worlds. If we encounter another alien civ it will probably be far more advance then ours and whenever that happened on earth it didn’t end well for the civ that was behind.

I agree. And I believe God placed them an unreachable distance apart for a reason.

Right now we need a little distraction...How about a rumor that the famous tabloid space alien is warning America that Obama is a dangerous alien form Betelgeuse.

Zaphod Beeblebrox cannot be reached for comment.

If a UFO did land and destroyed the UN, would it be a bad thing?

I have a theory that they already know us through old TV broadcasts and figure earthlings are insane and declared the planet off limits.
