Vanity - Petraeus and Running mate slot

Posted on 11/12/2012 11:07:38 AM PST by Perdogg

I am assuming everyone will remember that Petraeus' name was 'leaked out' to the news media this past summer as a possible running mate for Gov Romney.

The questions are:

1. Did the Romney campaign know anything if indeed they were seriously interested in him?

2. Was his name floated to the press by OFA as sick joke?

Perfect play. Throw out the idea, hope the pubs like the idea and run with him and fall into the Demonrats scheme, then release the dirt they have on the candidate at the most opportune moment for an easy win.

Will be interesting to learn more about the background of who had knowledge beforehand as they investigate it, even though it will go absolutely nowhere.

I think more likely, libs who knew of the scandal were hoping to influence Romney to pick Patraeus so they would have an October surprise. I guarantee it would not have been hidden till after the election.

I have it from a highly-placed individual that Petraeus really has Democratic leanings and was imagining himself a Democratic candidate for something in 2016.

As I recall, the first person who mentioned the possibility was none other than Obama himself, and I think he even recommended that they nominate Petraeus.

So I guess he was probably preparing his October Surprise in true Chicago style, but when they didn’t nominate Petraeus, he lucked out because he found he could use it for something even more valuable, that is, muddying the waters on Benghazi.
