As we enter the first week since we were shellshocked by the election results of last Tuesday and as 360 degree post-mortem analyses continue to abound, we must take away one major lesson from this epic disaster. We played by "their" rules and we lost.
When Bush won, it was because while he played by "their" rules, third-party backers appealed to value voters and of course we all know of the pivotal role played by the Swift-boaters that sunk the Kerry candidacy.
We ask why did we not run ads showing Obama's embrace of gay marriage and how under the Full Faith and Credit Clause will extend this to the red states? Why didn't we show how the gay culture has infected local school curriculum in places like California and Washington? The connection between gays and AIDS? Why were no questions raised about how a future Supreme Court was one vote away from constitutionalizing gay marriage and with that other polyamorous relationship and possibly incest? Why were no ads run by our side on how God was repeatedly booed at the DNC Convention? Why didn't we run ads on how Obama is requiring people of faith especially Christians and particularly Catholics to choose between their God and his agenda? And finally why were no ads run about the issue of illegals and unlimited immigration that has added to the costs of crime, schooling, and public benefits?
In a word, our side was snakebit. In the past conservative were hammered for raising what "they" called divisive and hate-filled wedge issues. We were stung by the liberal snakes and we kept clear of the snake pit.
In truth these are not wedge issues. They go to the very heart of who we are as an expression of a common culture and Judeo-Christian ethic. If demographics is destiny, culture is the engine that takes us there. And yet we refused to ride this vehicle because the road we were warned is fraught with liberal IEDs.
While one can understand why Romney did not want to go there since he would have been tarred and feathered by the liberal media, there was absolutely no reason why independent groups in the post-Citizens United era shied away. Instead we had Rove and Company throwing away $300 million playing from the same hymnal as Romney, telling voters that it was an economic theme and nothing else mattered.
Democrats will label Romney as a murderer and a felon and everything else on earth and under the earth but as soon as conservatives address value and cultural issues, the MSM descend upon us like a tsunami trying to bury us with labels like "playing dirty" and branding us as being "divisive" of the country and engaging in wedge issues. And not infrequently, they have the support of leading RINOS to further this meme.
Limbaugh has asked how do you defeat Santa Claus? By portraying him as coming to prey on your children, swamping your local schools with gay-filled garbage, and taking away your Bibles.
Unless and until Republicans and conservative stiffen up their spine and are willing to engage in this cultural war, we will continue to lose.
You make a lot of good points.

how do we know we lost before we go over all the votes in the precincts that produced more votes than registered voters?....How do we know it stopped there? Is there a better time to expose voter fraud than when the votes are fresh?

“They go to the very heart of who we are as an expression of a common culture and Judeo-Christian ethic”
We are a post Judeo-Christian country, with no common culture any more. The constitution and the founding fathers are not held in anything approaching the regard they were even a generation or two ago.
The issue is how to maintain some vestiges of constitutional freedom while not using the Bible or what we used to consider cultural norms as justification.
The MSM through media manipulation (persecution and slandering of more viable candidates), chose our nominee for us.
True, but we made no attempt to inform them of the consequences of their vote to their families and children aside from bread and butter issues. “Man Doth Not Live By Bread Alone,” and alas we ignored this.
“Why We Lost”? It’s because the establishment Republicans are just as corrupt as the entrenched Marxist, Socialist, Democrats. We do not have a two party system. Period.
Conservatives have been playing defence for long time.
remember what happened to Chick-Fil-A?
I doubt that a campaign to shout out about Obama’s helpfor the gay folks would have helped much.
A majority of people seem only too happy to accept perversion as “normal”
They voted for same sex marriage in 3 or 4 States including my own. Something I never thought I would see.
There are some sick people in this world.Including our Muslim President.
You make good points. But naming pederasty ‘gaiety’ is playing by their rules.
No sorry I think the problem is, we have sold out too much.
Breaking unions is important.
But one must keep track of the bigger picture: Sending your business international builds up America’s competitors.
That is the growing problem. So while I oppose unions, I STRONGLY SUPPORT American jobs.
All American jobs.
Another in a long line of vanities and articles refusing to deal with the Big Pink Elephant in the corner of the room that was the main problem this election cycle.
That would be the moderate/liberal candidate, Mitt Romney, that we had to deal with.
All the other issues, for the most part, are going to be with us, each and every election season until there is no more evil or Democrats (one and the same) in the world.
They will continue to cheat, their lap-dogs in the media will continue to lie, obfuscate, and try to cheat their candidate into the White House.
These things aren’t going away.
So what do we have some marginal control over?
We, as true conservatives, (and I don’t mean people trying to redefine the word to include support for Amnesty, Abortion or the Gay Agenda, or even ignoring fiscal conservatism), are going to have to stand up and tell the GOP-E, not only no, but HELL NO! to anymore liberal/moderate Presidential candidates like Bob Dole, John McCain, and the worst of the lot, Mitt Romney.
Either we get serious, and be willing to say no even in the face of the next Evil boggey-man, that the GOP will try and use to force us to vote for their loser of a candidate, or the party is doomed, both as a home of conservatives, and for any chance of winning a Presidential election ever again.
They will continue to attempt to abuse us like a battered wife only so long as we put up with it and go along with it.
Now is the time to put first things first and start planning in some fashion to defeat the GOP-E the next election cycle.
It is time to clean up our own house of these Benedict Arnolds, these traitors to everything we believe in and hold dear.
Check out Brett Stephens in today’s WSJ, who says he had predicted the loss back in January, and that is because the GOP insisted on emphasizing the so called gay marriage and abortion, the former most people don’t care about, the latter, most people, he says, support in extreme cases.
By exposing him for the satan claus he actually is.
I doubt another Republican will be president as long as they remain liberal. FR will have to endorse another Republican liberal in 2016. Can you say, President Hillary Clinton? That is how the GOPe will get the FR vote - would you rather have Clinton or our liberal Republican? So, FR will take the liberal again. I think it will be Jeb Bush. I don't see any hope for conservatives in the future.
Romney also ran his entire primary in urban areas that weren’t going to vote for him in the general while passing over those he would need in the general.
But we will not do it. It is not our nature. Reason will not carry the day. Yet we still try to reason with those who are, by their nature, unreasonable. The future looks dim for conservatism prevailing. The government plantation is where they work....and their work is simply voting democrat.
“Romney staked out a position guaranteed to tick off social conservatives and depress turn-out on our side.
THat position included the following:
1. Support for Gays in the Military.
2. Support for Gay Adoption
3. Support for Gays in the Boy Scouts
4. Support for Abortion in the cases of Incest, Rape, life, and HEALTH of the mother”
And we actual conservatives, toward the middle and end, were stomped on by Freepers for mentioning any of that. What we got was, “Obama thanks you for your vote”. “Anyone who doesn’t vote for Romney is un-American and a traitor.”
I expect the same thing next time - the GOPe will push a liberal Republican so the Party won’t offend anyone. Bovine Scatology.
I fear that we lost because so many in our country have lost sight of the true God of the Bible. We embrace gays, we prop up muslims, we encourage drug use. It seems to me that “we” have gotten the president “we” deserve. It’s just unfortunate that so many of US have to pay the price as well.

These elections are NOT certified yet. The only way to get this investigated, much less recounted or overturned, is through the Secretary of State of each of the five key states: Florida, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. EVEN IF YOU ARE IN ANOTHER STATE you can help. But it wont do any good to dilute our effort to challenge California or Michigan or other states. Until a major group gets involved to do more, here is the plan: Contact the Secretary of State of the state in question. See contact information below...

We can not wait for 2014 and 2016 to regroup and figure out new strategies. By then it will be too late. The Marxist/Muslim usurper will have completed his planned distruction of America. That's what people fail to understand.
We must act NOW.
Start with the election. If we let the Rats get away with this massive voter fraud, we're no better than a bananna republic.
We must keep digging and pounding him every day, in every way we can- phony birth certificate, Benghazi, Fast and Furious, his hidden life, records....
We are FReepers. We must fight!
Those who shrug and accept this atrocity without a fight are not worthy to be called Freepers!

I agree. Romney was compromised as the RINO candidate he is. But once he was our nominee, it was left to third parties like American Crossroads to go on the attack and sadly, unlike the Swiftboaters before them, they abdicated this attack dog role and did not go for the ankle bites that would have crippled the Obama machine.
A lot of us understand perfectly why Romney didn't want to go there -- those of us familiar with his record, anyway. For crying out loud, Catholic church charity adoption agencies in Massachusetts closed their doors because of law Romney created that would have forced them to accommodate gay "married" couples as "parents." Sure, you can find how later he tried to pawn it off as "nothing I could do, I tried to stop it ..." but any informed Republican is aware of the vast extent of Romney's pro-Gay agenda.
Between blatant vote fraud and a Republican candidate who was himself a fraud in terms of conservatism ... the Republicans lost.
Most Americans reject liberalism because most Americans are good, moral people. It is why Democrats have to cheat: they are outnumbered. But the trick up their sleeve is the MSM, which shapes perception such that "progressives" are the many hip and conservatives are the few squares. But read comments on the you tubes, the yahoo threads, the comments sections on links to LA Times articles. Granted, you see a lot of entitlement liberal idiots, but you see a lot of pretty level-headed folks who understand what a load of crap big government liberalism actually IS, and it's starting to dawn on some of them that elections have gotten downright stinky in America lately.
"Grown-up" Republicans who think in terms of pragmatism and Santa Claus are condescending boobs who also think the majority of Americans are "children." They belong in Europe if they're going to badmouth my country that way.
These "grown-up" Republicans vote for the likes of Romney, ridicule "birthers" and "vote fraud conspiracy theorists," and like the good beta dogs they are, live in a world where going alpha is just too scary.
Thus the alpha politicians create a Banana Republic because so damned many so-called American conservative patriots have neither the vision nor the confidence in their principles to GO ALPHA.
next time, conservatives need to unite behind one candidate *before* the GOPe primaries start, that is, if there is still a GOP around by then. a conservative party would be “optimal.”
Folks, we need to think BEYOND the box we continue to confine ourselves into.
Forget working to somehow win votes for an upcoming election.
That time is past.
We saw our last somewhat ‘honest’ and free national elections back in 2008. Cook County is national now - Marxists control the machine...and there is no way in hell the ballot box is going to be a viable option to change our rulers.
We can go ahead and pretend otherwise if we want to delude ourselves.
We’ve been taken over in a velvet coup. No Marxist regime ever gives up their power unless forced to. Period. History speaks.
The Ruling Class GOP knows where the power is going to now lie - and they will do everything to share in it.
Given what they did Tuesday during the RNC - it should be clear by now that Conservatism has been forever rendered irrelevant in national politics within the GOP. The Ruling Class Establishment blame Conservatives for the “loss” and are full steam ahead with adopting the Democrat agenda for itself.
We have no hope in the national party - or in what used to be. We are a POST-CONSTITUTIONAL SOCIALIST DEMOCRACY. Not even a Republic any longer. That is the defacto-reality. We are Ameritopia - just as Levin warned in his book. And if history is a teacher - then a hard tyranny is a-commin’ if not already at the door.
Know the ground we find ourselves on. For that is what we have to fight on - and the rulers would attempt to disarm us and make us struggle according to THEIR rules.
You cannot win a war by playing by the enemy’s rules or adopting their agenda to get along to win hears and minds with principles NOT of God or our foundations.
You are correct about Romney. But it is the role of third parties to launch the unremitting assault on how Obama is radically changing the culture and forcing good and moral Americans from union households to minorities including blacks to accept an agenda that undercuts their family values and religious heritage. The MSM calls this “divisive” issues and cultivates a climate that pre-empts this attack. RINOs are the first to flee and unless third party groups pick up this baton, the race is lost. This is the singular reason for the stunning loss last Tuesday. To be sure there are others, and fraud is one of them but nothing is so decisive to explaining the extent of our electoral losses than the failure to bring up front and center the family values agenda.
We should boldly have framed the issue between God (with non stop videos of DNC delegates booing God) and descent into Sodom and Gomorrah. But being snakebit, our side refused to go there and we played right into a game played by “their” rules.
I live in Washington State and hate the fact 74 passed -- posted about it many times -- but am not aware of "gay culture has infected local school curriculum" in this state. It may well happen in the future, but can you give a current example?
I was under the impression, that like in CA, public high schools now use history books extolling the contributions of gays to civil society.
Exactly right. I think a lot of people aren’t really seeing the implications here. This is not just another election loss. This is the Chicago machine getting itself established at the national level. When you add in a few million illegal aliens cum citizens, tens more millions becoming dependent on government assistance via Obamacare and a moribund economy, and the demographic trends already in place, it’s obvious that by 2016, there will be an army of drones who will march to the polls at every election to return the regime to power. I’m not sure where it ends. According to de Toqueville, it ends in fiscal collapse and then dictatorship. After that I suppose the possibility of restoring the Republic becomes a reality. That may be decades from now, however.
No, it’s because we failed to play the game thee way they play it.
To Republicans and most conservatives, politics is like sports. To liberals, it’s all-out war. We have to learn to play it that way.
The task will not be easy because the landscape has changed.
Romney won male voters 52 to 45 percent, but he lost women 55 to 44 percent. While Romney prevailed among married women by 53 to 46 percent, Obamas margin among single women was a crushing 68 to 30 percent.
Adding to the gloom for Republicans, fewer than half of American households now feature a married couple. This insures greater dependency on government. The economic argument alone (and all the economic arguments from unemployment rates to good track/wrong track numbers, deficits, national debt, prior business experience, went against Obama) is simply not going to cut it.
We must not allow the left and the MSM to dictate to us on how the game is played. We need clusters of Swift-boat types willing to play in the trenches if we ever are going to win again. We can shout out aloud all we can about fraud etc, but we’ll lose if the rules are “their” rules that dictate on how this game is played.
I think after this latest RINO produced disaster, the GOP-e knows they have to retool their thinking, or go the way of the Whigs. Even with widespread Democrat voter fraud, Obama should have been whipped soundly by any reasonably solid Republican challenger.
The fact that Mitt Romney didn't bury Obama in a landslide, can't all be chalked up to the Dems cheating. In my mind, most of that loss has to be laid at the doorstep of the RNC, who insisted upon foisting yet another milquetoast candidate onto the center-right.
I think it's now painfully apparent to everyone concerned, that the instincts of staunch conservatives were right all along. This wasn't the time to run a nice guy, who wouldn't think of dirtying his fingernails in a street brawl with the left. No, it was precisely the time for the sort of leader that the Tea Party movement demanded. Someone who is fearless, outspoken, and patriotic to a fault. Someone who could inspire the people to answer the call to arms, and boldly lead us to spit in the eye of the evil that is destroying us.
Right when we needed Churchill, the GOP-e gave us Chamberlain.
Again.
Do we get it now, people? Have we finally had enough of this? Are we going to allow the party to play us like fools again in 2016? I surely hope not. Even now, I think the GOP may have set the stage for a conflict of unimaginable proportions, but if we somehow avoid a total breakdown of this country, it's certain to me that the conservative right has been played the fool for the very last time.
Thats right all those Negative ads By Obama really turned off voters didnt they? Not talking about Benghazi really helped too. The Marxist selling out our Missle defense to Russia Too as well as spelling out all the Nightmares of Obamacare,How could we lose?
The GOP-e LIKES being the minority party. That’s the problem. Look at Boner, he acts like being Speaker is a burden. I would like to be speaker of the house for 10 minutes, I would probably start CWII.
Before the election comments on yahoo articles and other major MSM sites that constantly ran pro Obama articles, being pro Obama, often ran about 12 out of 13 completely and wholeheartedly against Obama. The "likes" for comments against Obama were often into the 100s, and comments for Obama quickly disappeared, and were covered over because they had so many "dislikes".
During the last election the democrats ran their election based largely on propaganda, and covered the internet with comments that were pro Obama. You could tell that many in the same article were likely written by the same people with different handles. Conservative opinions were mocked to death. I am sure that the left had paid operatives to keep the internet covered with pro Obama comments, and to also horribly ridicule Conservative comments. The few supposedly Conservative oriented comments that got through were often racist and/or really nasty. It was obvious that they were also written by their operatives to mischaracterize Conservatives. Good comments I wrote were often not allowed in by what appeared to be bought Moderators.
My point is that Obama's campaign could have cared less about the vast hoards of anti Obama internet comments this time, and I believe it is because it didn't matter. He had this election sewed up, and he knew it, for the left had taken control of the voting machines. His campaign was a dog and pony campaign meant to smoke over the fact that they didn't even need a campaign, except to keep enough people who were obviously for him to throw off the fact that the vote was fixed, for merely the show. Also to keep his base somewhat activated and happy, in case they may be needed sometime in the future.
Also, since comments, when left unfettered by leftist control, ran so tremendously against Obama, even on the normal MSM operated sites, it is obviously that Romney likely won this election, if ran fairly, by a huge landslide. It wasn't at all because he was a great candidate, but rather because the public held a largely "anything but Obama" mind set. I don't think that Americans are nearly as stupid and immoral as we think, except to be duped by vast election fraud.
It was also amazing how many Republicans were stone-cold ignorant on Romney's record in Massachusetts. A shocking number did absolutely ZERO due-diligence in voting for him, but instead believed wholesale the pap in his speeches. The ones who voted for him with their eyes wide open, I can understand -- they knew the risk they were taking in electing a liberal, and I can respect that. But those who voted for a liberal-registered-as-a-Republican in pure ignorance and hope, failed a responsiblity to investigate him for themselves. Likewise, folks who think vote fraud is a laughable kook cause, should take the trouble to go read America's mind themselves, because neither Fox News nor the MSM can or will create a digest of what people are really saying in response.
Indeed. Fine post, Bellflower!
Finny, to what you wrote I’d only add that some people were not just stone-cold ignorant about the Romney record but belligerently so. Willfully so. I can understand the ABO mindset but the groupthink to which so many mainstream Republicans surrendered regarding Romney’s ‘conservatism’ was disheartening. Vote for the man if you must but at least be aware of what you’re getting.
I think the vote fraud issue will once again put the much-maligned base against our ‘betters’ in the GOP-E. All those people who said they would ‘hold Romney’s feet to the fire’ if he were elected President can transfer their ardor to this issue. If we lose elections, then we lose them, but let’s at least do all we can to make sure the elections are fair.
Amen Brother FReeper!!!
