Don't Sign a Petition Email
With permission, I post this email circulated in a private company:
All, As some of you may have heard since the Presidential election there are currently 32 states that have a petition to Secede from the United States. There may be some of you who are considering signing the petitions but we FSOs need to remind you that Allegiance to the United States is one of the 13 adjudicative guidelines that DISCO uses to grant you a security clearance and give you access to classified information. For that reason, we strongly suggest you do not sign any of these petitions or align yourself with any group that would place your allegiance to the country in question.
It is the belief of the Defense Security Service that signing the petition is a reportable event. However, we are waiting for a confirmation from local security representatives. In the meantime, please send me or your FSO notice if you have already signed the petition. Failure to report the action could possibly result in an issue with your eligibility when your reinvestigation for renewal becomes due.
Who on earth would sign such a thing? Completely insane. I’ve been happy not to have seen these abominations on FR.
It’s true.
Careful, you may be surrounded!
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
It’s probably true.
So report me. My oath was to the Constitution and the Republic, not the Communist Union that we have become.
I wouldn’t be surprised.
When liberals did this secession dance in 04, they didn’t have to worry that Bush would be vindictive and attempt to punish them. Obama is nothing but vindictive.
Oooooh. I'm sooooo scared!
Honestly, I've never seen so many pansies running around with their tails between their legs in all my life. If we'd had this attitude in 1776, we'd be singing "God Save the Queen" as our national anthem right now.
Real FREEDOM costs something.
Coward. If you won’t sign a simple petition online, how could we ever hope to count on your for anything else?
Should I log off FR?
Sign what?
The petition which our right or what?
When you say insane what are you referring to?
Resistance to Tyrany is obedience to God.
You need to find some courage.
Someone is a coward for not signing something which could never accomplish anything? Get a grip.
There’s close to a million of us that have signed...
Is that “nothing”? Or is that a message that is hard to ignore?
Get a grip yourself...

fwdude~: “It is the belief of the Defense Security Service that signing the petition is a reportable event.”
I believe that Defense Security Service is part of the Dept. of Defense ( DOD) and are federal sworn agents , but not law enforcement officers. They do personal background checks , and look for industrial espionage ,especially with companies doing federal business with the Dept. of Defense (DOD).
Since I am unfamiliar with Defense Security Service , I went to Wiki for some understanding of their role and duties.
However , since the issuance of several Executive Orders in the last few months , I wonder if their role and duties have changed (?).
The Defense Security Service only asks the question as to whether you have ever plotted the VIOLENT overthrow of the U.S. Government.
If you have plotted the non-violent overthrow, i.e., by peaceful political means (kind of like the current administration), that is permitted.
It’s not hard to ignore; Obama is already doing exactly that, and I expect he will keep doing it. At best, you’ll get a dismissive response from the White House telling you what most of the rest of us already know: secession doesn’t work that way.
There are only really two things that the petition accomplishes:
#1 - It paints a target on the back of those who sign.
#2 - It makes Republicans look like crazy, unhinged sore losers.
Or course, what we have now isn't what is outlined in the US Constitution...
If you don’t already have a target on your back, you aren’t paying attention.
As for what we look like, our election was just stolen, our Country is being converted into a Socialist Union, and our economy is teetering on the brink...
And you are worried about the names our political enemies might call us?
I believe that distinction is lost on almost all of us.
Although,I get your point.
They have no sway or command over your personal time and business. If you don't sign it at work, on a company computer/server/whatever, then they have zero right to tell you to report yourself. What right to do they think they have to supress lawful activities of employees off the clock?
Screw them.
I agree, and I don’t see the big damn deal anyway. Everyone knows that these are not OFFICIAL petitions. These things are not legally significant. Aren’t they just written up by anybody who feels like it?
I saw one that must have been removed (it was in a list) and it was just a horrible babble of racist rant and nonsense “words” strung together, all in caps.
I view this stuff as an electronic “suggestion box”, meant to be purely symbolic. No one that signs thinks these are REAL and will produce real results.
Every body has their panties in a big wad over nothin’.
Now, if there were a REAL petition to separate NYC from the state of New York......millions would sign on to that in no time flat.
You get it. I get it. We can educate the rest as time allows...
FReegards
Screw them is right. Sign the petitions. Sign early and sign often.
Exactly. But... We have to start somewhere. May as well be here. Costs nothing and is already paying off. Look how many people across the Nation are talking about it...
“If you dont already have a target on your back, you arent paying attention.”
Listen, if the commies start purges, they aren’t going to liquidate or re-educate half the country. They’ll do as they always do, target the leaders and the most stubborn malcontents first, and cow the rest into submission by that example. So, voting Republican or owning guns may put you on one list, but signing something like this puts you on a whole different kind of list. There’s no strategic benefit to be gained from that action.
If we were ready for open war, like the founders were when they signed the Declaration, it would be a different story, but we’re not. We’re sitting ducks, waiting for the midnight knocks on the door. You’re just making sure that they knock on your door early.
“And you are worried about the names our political enemies might call us?”
You’re the one who asserted that the petition was sending a message, like that was accomplishing something. I was just clarifying what that message was that you are sending.
I bet you that that petition was started by libs to trip "known and prominent" Conservatives in signing it!
BTTT with the RATs in charge for another four years, why take the chance?
The bleat of a coward...
I was just clarifying what that message was that you are sending.
No. You were trying to assuage that little voice in the back of your head that is telling you it's safer to be a mouse than a man. When the lion comes, it'll eat the man first before it ever gets hungry for mouse-meat...
Nabber ~:” The Defense Security Service only asks the question as to whether you have ever plotted the VIOLENT overthrow of the U.S. Government.
If you have plotted the non-violent overthrow, i.e., by peaceful political means (kind of like the current administration), that is permitted. “
Thank you for the clarification.
I wonder if the same test would be administered to the “Occupy” movement , its supporters , unions , and companies who encuraged the Occupy movement ?
I’ll be signing the one for Texas as will be encouraging everyone I know to sign theirs.
Petitioning to leave the country is not the same as petitioning for a redress of grievances.
If a liberal was looking to revoke their own citizenship, there wouldn’t be a single person here at FR who would argue that this would show allegiance to the country.
“The bleat of a coward...”
Hey, I’m not the one calling people foul names from behind the safety of my computer screen.
“No. You were trying to...”
Don’t tell me what I was trying to do. You’re not a mind reader, and such speculations are not welcome on FR.
You signed a petition that called for your state to secede from the United States?
You asked to be removed as a United States Citizen?
And you think that would make no difference in a process where your loyalty to the United States was being assessed?
You have every right to ask to have your citizenship revoked, which is what secession is, a group revocation of citizenship.
But actions have consequences, and asking to be treated as a foreigner might well cause you to be treated as if that is what you wanted.
If you actually want to renounce your citizenship, don’t be surprised if people take you seriously.
If you actually DON’T want to renounce your citizenship, and instead are trying to “send a message”, I suggest you find a way to do so that doesn’t call your loyalty to the country into question.
My guess is you don’t want to secede, you want to fix the country. But if so, don’t sign a petition saying you want to quit.
You say that as if it is of necessity a good thing.
I don't see how having America talking about how the conservatives all want to quit the country and make their own is helpful to the conservative cause.
Of course, if your goal IS to divide the nation and create smaller nation-states, then I guess having people talk about that is a good thing.
If your goal was to possibly save the country from the left, by winning elections, people talking about this will do nothing good.
Most people I hear talking about this, outside the echo chamber, are laughing about it, just like we always laughed at leftists talking about moving to another country.
If you think the election was a fraud, sign a petition calling for a nationwide investigation of voter fraud.
If you think Obamacare is the death of our society, sign a petition calling for it's repeal.
Yes. Actually, you are. I put my REAL name on a REAL petition. You would rather just hide...
Youre not a mind reader, and such speculations are not welcome on FR.
No. I'm not. I have only the substance of your statements to work with. And those sentiments clearly express cowardice...
As for what is welcome here, it's Jim's place... Not yours.
Some holier-than-thou writer over at the Breitbart site wrote an “article” saying that good people should mock and shame anyone who signs.
He said, “These people are not only cowards for giving up the fight; they also get in the way of the fight, because the media uses them to constantly put us on defense and define who we are.
Let the secessionists leave the Republican Party, or whatever the threat is this time. We have to immediately mock and marginalize these people, not coddle lunacy and sympathize with stupid. At least if they can’t be associated with the conservative movement, they’re somebody else’s problem.”
This pompous ass sez, “the media uses them to constantly put us on defense and define who we are.” THEN goes on to say, “ We have to immediately mock and marginalize these people, not coddle lunacy and sympathize with stupid.”
—Wait, so the communist main media will mock people who are making a peaceful statement - which is bad optics for our “side”, so lets us rush in there first and mock them so the communist lefties don’t pick on us or define us negatively.—
Let me know how that fricken works out.
Breitbarts Bigs is a sad joke nowadays. This guy is so worried about the lefties good opinion that he pisses himself.
No such things as "bad" press. Think I'm wrong? What was Clinton's approval rating in his second term after Impeachment?
Of course, if your goal IS to divide the nation and create smaller nation-states, then I guess having people talk about that is a good thing.
The goal is as it has always been, preserve freedom and our Rights as men. If our current government isn't up to that task, or is outright hostile to those Rights, then why should we sign on for National suicide?
Usually the person in the room screaming loudest to 'blow it up' or 'burn it down' is an FBI plant. I think you're on to something...
I don't see where these will accomplish anything, and I must note that the 'signatures' I saw on the one I looked at were from all over, and only a couple from that state.
If this was effective, with that M.O., maybe someone could enter petitions for the New England States, Illinois, the Left Coast, and everyone could 'sign' them so they'd be the first out...
“Yes. Actually, you are.”
Prove it. Where did I call anyone names?
“And those sentiments clearly express cowardice...”
No, they don’t. There is a difference between bravery and stupidity.
“As for what is welcome here, it’s Jim’s place... Not yours.”
Surely, which is why it is nice of Jim to set down rules for appropriate behavior, so that we can all know what is welcome here and don’t have to rely on anyone’s individual judgement.
... crazy, unhinged sore losers.
...so that we can all know what is welcome here and dont have to rely on anyones individual judgement.
That is exactly what YOU are doing. You've decided that anyone who who signs one of these petitions is a "crazy, unhinged sore loser".
Now you are whining on top of everything else.
“You’ve decided that anyone who who signs one of these petitions is a “crazy, unhinged sore loser”.”
I did nothing of the sort, despite your attempt to quote me out of context to make it look like I did. Here’s what I actually said:
“There are only really two things that the petition accomplishes:
#1 - It paints a target on the back of those who sign.
#2 - It makes Republicans look like crazy, unhinged sore losers.”
I didn’t call anyone names, I merely stated the fact that these petitions will be used to paint Republicans that way. I’d appreciate if you would stop lying about what I’ve said. It’s not very polite, and it’s pretty silly, when anyone can scroll up a few posts and see what you are doing.
As for whining... you’re the one who is calling people cowards if they don’t agree with you. I really don’t think you’re in any position to accuse people of whining.
* If your goal was to possibly save the country from the left,by winning elections,*
Winning elections? Hahahahahahahahaha
hahahahahahahahahahahaha
Our mere existence is enough for the Leftists to paint us that way. Or did you miss the part where they tried to pain Left-ist RINO Willard as "extreme Right-wing"?
And yes... As many of us have already admitted to signing these petitions... Your statement defining us as "crazy, unhinged sore losers" is a definite pejorative.
You are free to keep arguing the point, but it only makes you look even whinier...
I accurately described your fear of being on a "list" as cowardice. I stand by that...
“Our mere existence is enough for the Leftists to paint us that way.”
So we should just help them out then?
“Your statement defining us as “crazy, unhinged sore losers” is a definite pejorative.”
I didn’t “define” anyone that way. I said it would make us look that way. Stop lying about what I’ve said and trying to put words in my mouth, please.
“I accurately described your fear of being on a “list” as cowardice.”
I’m not afraid of being on a list, and I clearly never said anything of the sort. Rather, my point was that it is stupid to put yourself on a list while accomplishing nothing in the process. If you choose to pretend not to understand that difference, then I don’t know what to say.
Anyway, you’ve called me a coward, a whiner, and told transparent lies about me, so I’m not going to continue to try to have a reasonable conversation with the likes of you.
Why are we worried about it? They'd say we were extreme for insisting that water is wet...
Stop lying about what Ive said and trying to put words in my mouth, please.
Choose better words. This is what you are saying. If it isn't what you meant, say something else...
Rather, my point was that it is stupid to put yourself on a list while accomplishing nothing in the process.
No. You specifically brought up being on an elevated alert hit list. You also continue to ignore that people are talking about this from Coast to Coast. For free... There's no value in that?
There's no need for me to lie. Your cowardice and disdain for those trying to do something, anything, to preserve our way of life is pretty clear.
I am certianly glad that the signers of the Declaration of Independance didn't have your attitude. No I am not comparing myself to them. What happens to me is far less important than the liberty of the next generations.
