Do You Have Friends Like This? [Vanity]
Pharmboy | 11-16-12 | Me

I have had these friends for years...they are retired state workers, currently employed teachers, and people who work for universities. I enjoy their company (so long as we stay away from politics) and do stuff together.

BUT...they really piss me off...why? Because they chose their job pathway to security and very circumscribed work hours. No overtime. No weekends.

Yet...YET...they constantly bitch about people with wealth who have worked for it. Took a chance, and achieve success.

I work for the state in IT for human services. It's actually shown me just how deep and troubling the entitlement mentality goes. I go into offices all over my state and see them lined up filling out applications for their government checks.

I saw a guy sitting in a DHS office a couple of months ago with a beer in his hand! -What a sorry SOB!

It's not encouraging at all, most of these people are fully capable of working, but it gives me even more pride in my work because I'm working, sweating and getting dusty lugging computer equipment around and I DON'T have to stand in line for a handout.

I got 'em too, in my family, and like your friends they are good and nice people, but completely blind to their OWN failings resulting from human behavior while holding the "rich guy" to unattainably high standards.

The Good Lord warned with the Ten Commandments that "Thou shall not covet" ANYTHING that is another's.

Every slam of the "evil rich" is a violation of that Commandment.

People that engage in envy have no ability to logic, observe, deduce, act ethically or analyze their own human behavior. They can only criticize the behavior of those they envy.

You are a perfect example of what I was NOT trying to say, that is, state and federal workers are--often--doing important and necessary jobs; however, it's the crappy, envious attitude of some of these people that frosts my butt.

Why, WHY did you have to post this when I’ve been drinking?

My tolerance levels have dropped dramatically. With your permission, I would like to replace Calvin Coolidge on my tagline with this. :)

Your hyperbole is disingenuous!
At least own up to it if you want to “debate”.

“Non Producers, people who have never produced a whit of the products or services necessary to sustain an ethical society or civilization.
Your friends are acting exactly in accordance with their position, lifelong looting slackers.”

The workers I mentioned DO provide services. All government is not filled with “ lifelong slackers”...we need some governmental services. It is only when govt becomes bloated that it is a problem. Entrepeneurs need workers and some government...THAT is also “Economic Natural Law”. Unless of course you believe in econmic anarchy, in which there is no govt.

I tried a CPAP machine, couldn’t go to sleep with it turned on, never mind on my face.

There’s nothing to really be sorry about, anyway. It’s nothing I could’ve controlled by diet or anything else before getting them. It’s something my body compensates for, and has been doing so rather strongly considering the circumstances, for some time now. Bad part is though I feel like my grandfather, who’s 91. We complain about the same things.

I won’t be fake friends with anyone, especially people who over and over again vote for the party of abortion. I left one short term friend over her support of abortion. Another was a long time friend whose liberal lifestyle finally overcame our 40 years of knowing one another. Again I tried to reason with her about abortion. She was like talking to a stone. After this last election, the liberal in-laws will see even less of me than before. They will never change.

I also (over the phone) “unfriended” a 40 year realionship (knew her since kindergarten) about 6 years ago over her liberalism and crazy chaotic lifestyle. I finally had enough and cut her off. I expect she has voted for OThugga twice (or more!) since I last spoke to her.

Yeah, it does run that deep. There is one small exception if the person is older although I do wish they'd wise up but for anyone who was born say from 1955 onward, there is no excuse.

I could not do the CPAP either ... I opted for the surgery. Most painful recovery I have ever had. Could barely tolerate lukewarm water for 21 days. Docs had me drugged pretty heavy. It hurt but I did not care.

Still, a month after the surgery I woke up one morning feeling refreshed. I mean actually awake and able to get up and face the day without dragging myself out of bed. By then though, much of the “damage” was already done. BP was normally 180 over 120. My body stayed so long at that BP level that it “reset” to the higher BP level. Meds have now got it under control.

Recently I discovered a new coffee that has helped me take off 30 lbs without any of the adverse effects of normal coffee. I’m now down to 220 lbs but really need to be down to 180. I figure that this time next year I will be close.

You need some new friends and you need to stop engaging in enabling behavior.

She and I were both born around 1960. We met before kindergarten. She grew up with liberals, and me with conservatives. Things turned out accordingly for both of us. She is the poster child for liberalism. When I discussed the Gore-Bush election with her and told her I believed it was a sin to vote for an abortion loving candidate, she said “oh I wouldn’t have an abortion but I can’t say that others shouldn’t” and “I always vote for democrats because my dad always did.” You can’t argue with stupid. Still, it was years after that election before I’d had enough of her other antics. I was the giver and she was the taker. Hey, that’s just like a liberal,eh?

ALL government employees are, by definition, Non Producers, people who have never produced a whit of the products or services necessary to sustain an ethical society or civilization.

The navy, too?

My liberal friend has really gone off the deep end and her family is falling apart because of it. She got much more liberal after her daughter went to college as an affirmative action student, being 1/4 Hispanic, and then law school.

She had never completely given up drugs from her hippy days, but after she injured her back, she started growing her own marijuana and using much more heavily. She also started supplying others, her daughter, who was in need of a kidney transplant, and her other daughter, as well as some young friends. One of those young people hit a guy on a bicycle and killed him after leaving her house and spent 3.5 years in jail because he tested positive for marijuana use.

My friend’s son, who was a great young kid, is now a heroin addict on methadone, now. They haven’t spoken in two years. He told her that his drug addiction was her fault because she never made it clear what drugs could do to a person and always made it look like fun. He told her that she was the worst mother in the world.

Her husband left her recently and told her the same thing. He said that it worse every time that he came home and that he just couldn’t take it any more. She blames everyone else and their closed mindedness. She went from being the most generous, fun person that I knew to being mean, selfish and irresponsible. I blame the drugs.
