True Story from the 70’s: My son was four and enthralled with football and the Buffalo Bills. OJ was his fav player. One day, while on our way to a baseball game, DH picked up a teammate who needed a ride. He was black. I was in the back seat with the kids when we got there. The black friend got out and held the seat for us to climb out. My four year old says, “Thanks, OJ.” I don’t think he heard him as he was talking to someone, but I about died of embarrassment. I had not realized how sheltered a life he had led. I think that was the first black person he had seen up close. I told him afterwards that was not OJ, but he never believed me.
