Word For The Day, Wednesday, November 21, 2012--Boeotian
Boeotian [bee-oh-shuhn]
adjective
1. of or pertaining to Boeotia or its inhabitants.
2. dull; obtuse; without cultural refinement.
noun
3. a native or inhabitant of Boeotia.
4. a dull, obtuse person; Philistine.
Etymology: Origin: Boeotian
15901600; Boeoti(a) + -an "ignorant, dull," from Boeotia, district around Thebes in ancient Greece (said to have been so called for its cattle pastures), whose inhabitants were characterized as proverbially dull and countrified by their neighbors, the Athenians. The Boeotians presumably held reciprocal opinions, but their great writers, Plutarch and Pindar, though patriots, are full of praise for Athenian deeds and institutions.

That’s an ill-defined statistic. Are they spending 3 times per capita? Is this just in supermarkets? Maybe Anglos and Asians buy more things online and in other types of stores?

Muy excelente!

Completely unrelated news about Mexican obesity. ;-)
I know a lot of the little eating places I’ve been to there don’t even offer diet Coke or diet anything as an option.
After seeing the tech bubble and the housing bubble I no longer take spending statistics as a good thing. They are good if they are spending cash but not if it’s just a symptom of easy credit that will never be paid back.
You can take the jackass out of Chicago, but...
Ever notice that most Diet Coke drinkers don’t look so “diet”?
I think there’s a reason for that
I saw a truck yesterday with the bumper sticker that had Obama’s face and said “does this ass make my truck look big?”
Be that as it may, when you are forced to only drink bottled stuff, having non-caloric options other than water is a good way to reduce sugar intake.

Don’t blame me. I voted for Romney.
I hope you enjoy some pleasant Texas in November weather during your visit. My daughter and son in law have spent years in northwest Texas where the wind blows most of the time and it gets very cold in the winter. They keep commenting on how beautiful the weather is here in the Houston area (this time of year anyway).
Thems only for fat girls who want impress their first dates.
We’re at my son’s house in Fairview, near Plano, McKinney, etc. All 3 of my kids plus all 8 grandkids are here. Plus a close cousin who drove up from Houston with his wife and 4 kids. That makes 12 little ones, ranging from 1 to 10, clustered around 4 years of age. The weather is gorgeous, springlike. I plan on drinking heavily.
Wow, that is a great crowd! So glad the weather is nice for you all. Summer is hell in Texas but we do have some great “supposedly winter” months.
Most of Obama’s wealthy friends
Are immune to manners or style-
Their Boeotian manners and tastes
Must be annoying after awhile
From the vulgar “entertainers”
Parading naked in phony rage
To rich and criminal racists
Living the 70’s, page by page
I doubt they even notice
How civilized people laugh
At all their juvenile antics
And their ridiculous gaffes
Oh you can fake the drunkard but I’m sure you are as happy as a clam with your grand babies gathered around you. Especially bc they can play outside ;)
Perfect!!!

Lotsa lib losers to loathe.
The weather is absolutely perfect. And, yes, the kids are adorable. On average, two are crying at any given moment.
Thank you!
I just wish they could all be bundled up and shipped to France for a nominal fee...
