Happy Thanksgiving Coldie to you & yours & God Bless!
going to Ma to see my daughter and family.
Thank you so much.....God Bless... do you have a bird ready?
Going to the Old Myakka (FL) Community Thanksgiving just like every year.. We should have about 200+- people show up. Everything from Gator to Swamp Cabbage. It’s always a great time.. I cooked for 3 days getting ready... A lot of the old timers are missing but we will say a prayer for them and then get on with our meal.
My sister been thawing turkey since yesterday
Will probably be 20 people here this year
Turkey and corn bread dressing, corn pudding and green beans as sides and a cherry pie with ice cream as desert. I prefer pumpkin pie with whipped cream but the wife prefers cherry.
Home made Cranberry Mead for me and sweet tea for her.
Happy Thanksgiving to you, too! I pre-baked two pumpkin pies and made two frozen peanut butter pies. The stuffing is done and awaiting the bird for tomorrow. The turkey breast is done. Cole slaw is in the fridge. All that is left for me to do tomorrow is the mac and cheese, green bean casserole, potatoes, the bird, and rolls. I wish all FREEPERS a joyful, relaxing, filling and blessed Thanksgiving!
I am going to TWO dinners , both sets of friends.
The first one we have a tradition. I bring the frozen Marie Callander Turtle Pie (Yes, it IS Divine!!!).
Then I talk about how long it took me to make it, and especially how perfectly I packaged it and got it into the pie tin with the plastic cover and of course, the box all sealed up. My friends go along complimenting me on how ‘professional and just like the store bought ones it looks!” We do this tradition every time! ha!
The evening get together is at my Pupster’s boyfriend’s house where several other of her doggie friends and their human companions will also be there/. All doggies will get Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy. The people will too. And of course, I will bring the Frozen Marie Callander pie!
Normally Thanksgiving is at my house with a group of 10-15. This year my son and his wife invited us to her side of the family’s celebration. This was a total blessing from God. My Mom has been in the hospital since Monday, so I will be at the hospital. The rest of my group will be at the family gathering.
Same as last year, I have none. Rather than dine on left over pizza, I might try to find a restaurant open that's serving a traditional Thanksgiving menu..that would be nice.
Wait just a minute....”frozen peanut butter pies???” do you have a recipe...**eye roll**
Family and a good friend are coming over to our place. We’ll have the fire blazing and lots of good snacks before the main event at 4 PM. My wife and I were doing a lot of food prep today while listening to the real Thanksgiving from Family Life. Tomorrow we’ll put the smoked turkey in the oven, do a little more prep, feast, then spend the remainder of the evening in a tryptothan induced stupor.
I go “traditional” and always try something “new” as well. From the cook’s taster tests, it is creamy and isn’t too sweet. Not sure of the **eye roll** either you think it is nasty or really are interested?
Find a truck stop that has a restaurant they will have all the turkey and traditional sides you can think of!
Starting right after a big breakfast, and up until the turkey is done. :^)
Seriously, May all my fellow FReepers have a wonderful Thanksgiving
Wish you lived near us....we would love to have FReepers to dinner!! We are heading up to NC tomorrow to relatives. I plan on cooking my own dinner on Friday...turkey, gravy, hot sausage dressing, pineapple dressing, banana trifle for dessert. Happy Thanksgiving to all FReeper friends
I’ve heard from two people today that they go to Golden Corral for Thanksgiving. Just an idea. So sorry you are alone, HT!
God Bless and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! :)
I will either be going to my Uncles, and his family, or staying home and eating Pinto Beans all day.
I’m leaning towards staying home. I’m not thrilled with that part of my family. Such is life. :)
Excellent idea, I never thought about them. There's one within a mile from me and I know they have great food. Thanks and happy Thanksgiving to you also.......
A happy Thanksgiving to you.
My plans are the same as most everyone else’s I suppose. Dinner with the family and sit around and enjoy their company. I got the trains up just in time for the Grandkids to enjoy them.
I will check in here to get the news, and then have a nice Holiday. Hopefully.
You are so welcome, HT! Think about it.. when your tummy is full of lots of good food, I’ll be soaking the roaster pan, doing two loads of dishes and trying to figure out how to shove all the leftovers in the fridge! LOL! I’ve eaten at Golden Corral several times and it is a good restaurant (real mashed potatoes and even a dessert bar!) Hugs HT!
Thank you so much........
No really interested. Mom used to cook a mean grasshopper pie. Her Hollywood cheesecake was to die for.
FROZEN PEANUT BUTTER PIE:
1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup extra chunky or chunky peanut butter (or smooth if you hate chunky)
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 8 oz carton of extra creamy whipped topping (cool whip or regular store brand). I used Safeway brand. Defrosted
1 9-inch graham cracker crust (I used the ready made)
Beat cream cheese with an electric mixer on low until soft and creamy. Mix in peanut butter and sugar until incorporated. Slowly add milk, beating until well blended. Fold in the whipped topping. Spoon into pie crust, mounding the top. Freeze until firm. When solid, cover with foil. Remove from freezer 10-15 minutes before serving.
***I should add that the recipe states this can be frozen weeks before you need it. This doesn’t apply in my household.. anything yummy (frozen or not) is quickly consumed by the kids. LOL!
Is there any way you could share....’gator swamp Cabbage?”
Thank you.
“Is there any way you could share.. “gator swamp Cabbage”.
At this point.. I’m wondering if he/she could simply define it! LOL!!! I am guessing gator is alligator but completely at a loss for swamp cabbage.
Happy Thanksgiving to all FReepers.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving Day. It is a favorite day for me. A time to reflect on how truly blessed we are.
I will be making dinner for my husband’s family. Then, I will go for suppertime to my Mom’s where my family will be gathered.
My turkey is in the oven and I made a pumpkin pie and apple pie today. Tomorrow, I’ll bake a ham and fix green beans, mashed potatoes, corn, gravy, and cranberry sauce.
My in laws bring homemade rolls, deviled eggs, potato salad, broccoli, and desserts.
After lunch, the guys watch football while the gals gab.
Food and Family together is what I love.
I know the feeling about people leaving, not wanting to deal with Alzheimers . It is so sad.Thank you for staying with Mom and cooking the meal.
God Bless you and your dear Mom.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
My sweetie and I are staying home - cooking a chicken and the regular trimmings.
So thankful to check in here. Makes me feel not so alone in how this world has changed. Very comforting.
Blessings to all!
