Sixty-seven years ago, on a cold December 9th in 1945 Germany, legendary American general George S. Patton was injured in a strange auto "accident" on a road outside Mannheim, near the Rhine River. The opinionated anticommunist died twelve days later. Today, the evidence that he was murdered -- the first in a line of postwar political assassinations including that of President John F. Kennedy -- is mounting.
In 2008 my book about Patton's mysterious death, Target: Patton, was published by Regnery with the core evidence, including:
* Patton was the only passenger hurt that cold day in what essentially was described as a "fender-bender." Two others in the car with him were uninjured, as were those in the truck that suddenly turned and caused the crash.
* The truck and its occupants were suspiciously waiting for the Patton car on the side of the road, according to a witness. It didn't start up until Patton's Cadillac was sighted. The truck's driver, a soldier and black marketeer who had stolen the army vehicle, did not signal when he suddenly wheeled the two-and-a-half-ton hauler into Patton's path. The truck's driver and his passengers mysteriously disappeared -- as did the sergeant in a jeep who was leading the Patton Cadillac.
* Numerous shadowy figures, including a general and other officers, quickly descended on the remote crash site, taking charge. It was a quiet Sunday morning.

I see this as a revisionist parlor game, nothing more.
Patton spoke truth to power,and power had him killed.Exactly how high up in power the blame goes we may not know until the Day of Judgment.
Patton led the army against the Bonus Army, a large group of unarmed people just wanting the government to pay them their bonus.
I don’t know why so many on here idolize Patton, when he led the military against his own brothers and countrymen. That to me is absolutely inexcusable.
20th Century Fox studio execs had a lot of reluctance, if not outright trepidation about producing and releasing Patton in 1970, fearing that a nation weary from, and divided over Viet Nam would never want to see a "war movie."
As it turned out, the movie ended up appealing to both ends of the political spectrum. The counter-culturists saw Patton as rebel who bucked the system, and traditionalists saw him as an ass-kicking patriot.
The film of course did exceptionally well receiving multiple Oscars.
Patton was doing OK under the treatment he was getting from the combat doctors in Germany. They had to take him back to the states and put him under the care of experts that could deliver a ‘successful’ result.
Weird - I was thinking about Patton and the two mules at breakfast a couple and a half hours ago.
It was a sad state of affairs all around. The veterans bonus certificates were set up such that they were not to be redeemable until 1945 (with certain exceptions). With the onset of the depression they demanded immediate payment.
Patton enforced the orders of McCarthur reluctantly.
I do remember, when I was a kid, my parents wondering this. I don’t see it, but ya never know.
Brad Meltzers “Decoded” claims it was an accident. The truck driver did not “disappear” as is claimed here.

Which wasn't due. They wanted their 'free stuff' a couple of generations too early. Of course, the democrats finally gave in. And it was MacArthur, not Patton, who was the on-scene commander of the operation.
And, of course, you are standing up for the group stirred up by communist agitators. Shouldn't you be posting over at the Daily Worker?

The current-day military will do as Patton did then, and follow orders.
I have read a carbon copy of the report of Patton’s death by the surgeon who was brought in from Boston to treat him, and was on the special flight with Mrs. Patton. Patton died from pnemonia and a pulmonary embolism as a complication of the accident. I still have access to the report and will try to remember to re-review it next week.
Additionally this story reminds me of a 1978 fiction movie entitled “The Brass Target” that had Patton being shot by a rubber bullet that cause the broken neck from the accident.

Who are you to tell me where I should post? If Patton had enough decency, he would’ve refused those orders and faced down a court martial. That’s what I would’ve done if I was in that position. Marching on your brothers is wrong at every level.
Every person that joins the military signs a blank check. I really don’t think it’s Communist of me to want the government then to have paid them their bonuses.

And just like today, the media were scum happy to bait him on his own quotes. Patton’s fault too for not clamming up and telling them to F off like what Tecumseh Sherman did.
Both Patton and Eisenhower were majors involved in the operation.
Why on Earth do you people keep confusing Patton with MacArthur, when it was MacArthur who disobeyed a Presidential order and ordered the Army to disperse the Bonus Army protestors out of their squatter camps on the federal lgrounds near the Capitol Building? Why is it you also ignore how the Communist agitators were inciting a riot and an armed attack upon Congress?

There are some outstanding comments to that article. Most will go over most of the sheeple’s heads or they’ll continue to deny it. They’ve been that brainwashed by Bolshevik/Communist propaganda over the last 100+ years.
FDR was nothing but a Communist sympathizer surrounded by Communists and fighting for them, just like what we have now.
Also on that show, it was discovered that the vertebrate broken in Patton's neck had been broken before in his lifetime (along with many other bones) and was extremely weak.
Whenever the subject is the Bonus Army & bad ol’ MacArthur, it almost never gets mentioned that the vets did get their bonus in 1935, ten years ahead of schedule.
My grandpa used his to make down payment on a house. By 1940 he had paid off the mortgage.
IMHO, wouldn’t be surprised the fix was in for Patton. If he ran for POTUS, he would have been a good one.

Patton was famous, yes. But it took the 1970 movie starring George C. Scott to make him a legend to us baby boomers.
My Dad was an infantry commander in the Third Army. Rumor was that Patton wanted to rearm the Wehrmacht (weed out the Nazis) & hurl it eastward.
Dad had already liberated a POW camp where the freed Russians ran riot. But then he watched a different group of Russians (Vlasovite) get marched to their doom over a nearby hill to the sound of machine guns & screams.
Germany in 1945 was a hellish place.
Maybe I should have given you the benefit of the doubt and just recognized that history isn’t your strong suit. So perhaps you 1) Didn’t know the chain of command when the rioters were suppressed, 2) Didn’t know that the certificates weren’t payable until 1945, and 3) didn’t know that the rioters instigated the violence.
Or maybe you do believe that folks are ‘entitled’ to ‘free stuff’.
About 25 years ago I was speaking with a WWII vet who had served under Patton and he thought the same thing.
A good shot of air into a vein will do that to you.
I’m 27, unemployed for a few more days until I start a part-time job at Home Depot, and have never applied for unemployment even though I was eligible. I also don’t want to apply for “free healthcare,” because I know someone else is paying for it. Believe me, I don’t have many bills to pay, but it’s embarrassing asking for money to help pay them; it took me 3 1/2 years to pay off a bill for bloodwork. I definitely could’ve used the little money from unemployment to pay for that, but I didn’t know if I would get back only what I put in, or more. No, I don’t believe in getting free stuff. I was spoiled in all the wrong ways, and life woke me up by kicking me in the balls repeatedly.
No, history hasn’t been my strong suit. I may have spent one or two minutes learning about it in American history class, which was 8-9 years ago for me. Not near as long as most of Free Republic, but at the time I wasn’t very interested in American history, as I hadn’t been awoken to my Conservatism yet.
I still believe Patton should’ve refused those orders; he wasn’t in overall command, but he was still on the field leading men against his own brothers. I’ll continue to believe that to be inexcusable to the day I die.

Hoover ordered Army Chief of Staff General Douglas MacArthur to clear the veterans out with the use of the infantry and tanks. I don’t think Patton was involved unless he rode one of the tanks. He certainly did not lead the effort.
Talk about revisionist history, I watched Oliver Stone’s Showtime recreation of virtually every aspect of US History. The Communist agent and former VP Henry Wallace was re-patriated and deloused as a great progressive who was badly treated by FDR and Harry Truman. Watch the lies our children will learn as gospel truth

I suggest everyone who thinks the Army will be on “our “ side in any unConstitutional crackdown on traditional American freedom look to history. The Army does what it is told.
Also wasn’t MacArthur in on the Bonus Army suppression?
A young Guardsman in the mid 90s told me they were being trained to use bayonets on peaceful protestors who refused to move or otherwise comply with orders!
The government is many things but not your friend.
Still Patton was a genuine Character who demanded the best of his men .Patton ,like all the between war officers of his time, played politics to stay in the Army and in line for promotion.

I can see the Soviets assassinating Patton, but to think that any high level American officials were behind the assassination of Patton is to just traffic in conspiracy theories. This is as bad as believing that the CIA or LBJ were responsible for JFK’s assassination.
FDR wasn’t perfect, but FDR-derangement syndrome is almost as bad as Bush-derangement syndrome. Stalin, unfortunately, was our ally in World War II. We probably wouldn’t have won the war without the Soviet Union. If Hitler hadn’t decided to invade the Soviet Union, then we might have had to fight both Germany and the Soviet Union. We probably wouldn’t have won in that case. I wish that the Soviet Union hadn’t come to dominate Eastern Europe, but what choice did the U.S. and Britain really have? Relations between the Anglo-Saxon powers and the Soviet Union may have fallen apart then, and the war wasn’t even over yet. FDR and Churchill had hoped that Stalin would keep his promise out of fear of retaliation and let Soviet-occupied Eastern European countries have free and fair democratic elections. But after World War II was over, the U.S. and Britain were too war-weary to fight another war against the Soviet Union, contrary to what Patton might have wanted. The U.S. and Britain very well could have landed in Europe through Greece, as Churchill had wanted to counter Soviet ambitions, but that wouldn’t have created a second major front against Germany. Yes, I know that some of FDR’s advisers were Communist sympathizers, but I still think that this mattered little if any in the Soviet domination of Eastern Europe.
