Interesting story I found on guns.com:

‘Long story short, Windham Weaponry used to be Bushmaster Arms. The owner of Bushmaster sold the company to Remington and then in early 2011, he bought it back and renamed it Windham Weaponry.’

The things you learn here. I have a bushmaster and have been pretty happy with it. However I’d like to get a couple more and have been trying to figure out what I want. I’m leaning towards a piston operated one though.

I wonder what the former owner of Bushmaster "bought back" from Cerberus, given that Bushmaster is still operating under the latter's ownership? Maybe he bought his way out of a non-compete agreement or something.

"Manufacturing" an AR these days is all about the logistics of sourcing parts from other companies. Even High Standard, maker of .22 pistols for generations, has a line of AR rifles.
