According the the AVG website (Click Here), you can use the installation download to uninstall the product if you have trouble doing it with the Windows Control Panel. There is also a link to a removal tool, if that doesn't work.

I had to do similar gyrations to get Norton off my machines. Anti-Virus programs tend to be resistant to easy removal, and I suppose that's for a reason....

IIRC, AVG is a complete scam. I wouldn’t go to their website and download anything there.
