The Black in Black Friday is for black ink. Once upon a time accountants put debits in red ink and credits in black ink. On Black Friday your ledgers were full of credits listed in lovely black ink. You made a profit. Hurray for Profit!
My son told me that today. It is funny and I may start using it just to be a jerk to overly sensitive liberals.

If I remember correctly, the phrase “Black Friday” was the day retailers would move furthest into the “Black” because a lot of people were off work the day after Thanksgiving.
