My two most disliked radio voices: #2: Doc Thompson; #1: Mark Belling.
They sound somewhat alike, but Mark Belling more so.
You've obviously never had to endure Ben Ferguson every morning on 820 WBAP AM in Dallas. His voice penetrates your skull like one of those television hucksters at 3:AM. It's the last thing I want over morning coffee.
Yah, more’n most people, even.
You can always listen to Mark Davis on KSKY.
He’s on in Fargo, too. Never stops shouting.
But Mark Belling more so somewhat alike they sound?
Awful, too. Can’t listen when he subs for Rush. Especially annoying is the way he—he—constantly—constantly stammers as though he’s searching—searching for the next word.
He has a good radio voice but he is so pompous I can’t stand it.
Is that Ben Ferguson? That’s exactly how I’ve pictured him. It’s how he sounds.
I can’t stand phony mannerisms—and his main one is the way he tries to sound as though he’s thinking hard, thinking aloud, struggling to find the right words.
BTW: I wonder what has happened to Peter Boyles. His podcast stopped appearing weeks ago.
Mark Belling is apparently more like Mark Belling than that other guy.
3 out of 4 Mark Bellings sound more like Mark Belling
He looks like a real pretender....
In a “It’s Pat” kind of way
I wish Allan H Wiener could sub for Rush.
Ferguson is on the right.
No I can't. He's as bad as Ben Ferguson, but in a RINO way.
Gads....hang me or shoot me. Makes no difference.
Damn....y'all can hear him all the way from Dallas? The man's a menace!
Mostly between the hours of 8:00AM and 11:00AM on 820 WBAP AM in Dallas.
There is Geraldo on KLIF LOL!
I’m going with Ed Schultz who thinks he’s from Fargo, and that sorry excuse for a radio host who thinks having Bernie Sanders on every Friday does something for his show.
Melanie Morgan on KSFO.
Where`s Doc Thompson these days? He used to be on from 3-5 on Richmond`s WRVA-740.
The toughest for me to hear (though I like them both) are Belling and Bill Cunningham.
I used to listen to Mark Davis when I lived in Dallas years ago, waiting for Rush to come on. He always irritated me, but he talked a lot about his wife who was suffering from MS, I believe it was, and his daughter, Regina.
Can you tell me what ever happened with his wife? Do you know what the daughter is doing today?
Who is the other “Mark” who used to sub for Rush until listeners like me liked him better than Rush... and that was the last we heard from him.
He lives in NH, is from Canada, and has a British accent. Really funny guy.
Lately I can’t stand any of Limbaugh’s subs, and he seems to use them a lot while he goes off golfing... or whatever.
He’s taking this whole week off and the sub is insufferable.
Tom Becka hands down the worst voice. He left KC in 2005 and was in Iowa and Nebraska since.
I am under the impression that Becka left Nebraska and is in Fargo, North Dakota now but not 100% sure. His Omaha station did cutbacks and fired him, but he was also doing some work in Fargo in 2011.
I searched out Glenn beck clips on youtube from his HLN show between 2006 and 20-08 after I was given a link to old radio archives at Beck’s website from a link now gone from the current site. Well I found a clip with Michael Smerconish filling in for Glenn Beck. IT was as goofy as seeing a two clips of Glenn Beck on Hard ball on MSNBC in 2003 and 2005 at the old Glenn Beck website.
Mark Davis' manner is easy to listen to, and I don't think he can be described as a RINO. IMHO
...and I thought I'd turned to the wrong station... :-/
He is still on. Pretty sure I listened to him live this week; they just haven’t updated podcasts since 11/19. They only put up select podcasts for Sirota & Brown, hopefully they don’t start that for him.
Diane Rehm on NPR has spasmodic dysphonia which makes it difficult to listen to her.
Ben doesn’t come on until 9:00 am. Ben is from Memphis, and has been on the radio since he was a little kid. I have never been crazy about him or Mark Davis, but have listened to WBAP for years on line. Ben is a site better than Glenn Beck, and a whole lot better than he was in Memphis.
This picture is several years old......
Mark’s wife died several years ago. He has remarried and has a 4 or 5 yo boy. Regina is all grown up. I don’t know what has happened to her. Her grandparents lived here in Memphis.
He’s now in Fargo. Sounds as though he gargled for years with Clorox.
She was hard to listen to before she got that disorder. She bleated. And she was a pro-abortion, knee-jerk liberal. The type who isn’t aware that there’s such a thing as a “conservative.”
The last podcast that’s downloaded automatically was Nov. 1st.
have you tried khow? There are podcasts for 11/16 & 11/19 visible.
“You’ve obviously never had to endure Ben Ferguson every morning on 820 WBAP AM in Dallas.”
Geesh...How could he still be on the radio?
I think he started in Memphis back in the late 90s
before I fled the country.
I remember thinking of him as a young kid,
just getting his feet wet, trying to be the next Rush.
I felt sorry for him.
“Who is the other Mark”
Mark Steyn is sharp as a tack, and my favorite Rush sub.
How about morning blowhards don Imus and his sidekick Bernard McGuirk.
Thanks for the update. I’m sorry to hear about his wife.
If you ever had the chance to listen to the late Lynn Samuels, there would be no more need to add names to this list.
Vicki McKenna out of Madison. Her voice is harsh! I still listen, though, because she has great information.
No, it’s not stammering. What Mark Davis does -— when he has the great good fortune to sub for Rush -— who is away today doing something very special that he will tell us all about when he comes back on Monday — Monday being the first real work day after thanksgiving — which didn’t occur at all like the mainstream wants to say it did, but was a repudiation of the earlier tried socialism -— which keeps being tried year after year in the world’s history but it never works -— when are the liberals going to understand this....
