Oh my. Besides reaching for a tissue, I sent a little gratitude prayer up to God for the beautiful soul who found Meredith's letter and sent such a perfect reply to her.
Also at the link is the text of the letter that Meredith wrote to God, as follows:
Dear God,
Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.
I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and to swim. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her, you will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.
I really like that, instead of asking God why He let her dog die, Meredith wanted to tell God she was happy that He had let her have Abbey as her dog. Such a wise child.

I’ve grieved and suffered with the death of each of our eight dogs and one cat. It never gets easier. They were family, loyal, loving, some bird dogs, some protectors and all great companions.
