Prepaid wireless carrier Republic Wireless has been offering its $19 per month, unlimited everything, prepaid smartphone plan since about this time last year. At the time, though, there were a few catches; you had to buy a very low-end smartphone from them, you had to use its Hybrid Calling technology for most of your calls, and you could only get in if you were lucky enough to be accepted to an exclusive "beta wave."
Since then, Republic Wireless has upgraded to the slightly more modern Motorola Defy XT as its flagship smartphone model, and has changed to allow unlimited calling, texting, and data over Sprint's nationwide network, for the same $19/month price. Now the North Carolina-based startup is dropping its last restriction; the doors are open for anyone to preorder up to four Defy XT phones, "and they'll begin shipping in mid-December."

freepers can save some money!
After another hefty verizon bill... I am doing somthing like this in January. If anyone is or has used this, please post. I am a moderate wireless user with about ten calls a month.... lots of text and moderate fata. My worst customer service ever was with sprint, so i am hesitant.
Sheeit. This lady's gots a way better deal...
I ordered a black iPhone5 with 32GB memory and was told delivery in 2 months. Then 3 months. Then early next year.
I changed my order to white iPhone5 with 64GB and it was delivered in 2 days.
Sure, I’m willing to sign up and “save some money” if you’ll pay the $300 startup fee for me.
That’s racist. ;)
I left a hefty bill at ATT for Consumer Cellular for $35 a month calls, text, and data and have been very happy. They sent me a free sim card to use in my old iPhone, no activation fee, nothing, just the $35 plus tax after a month of use.
I’ve had Republic Wireless for the past couple of months. It hasn’t been perfect, but for $20.58 a month for unlimited voice and data (includes taxes and everything), I’m quite satisfied.
The phone is not the latest and greatest, but it’s waterproof and ruggedized and the battery lasts at least a full day for me. Once or twice a VOIP call has been poor when the wifi network was heavily congested, but generally, VOIP calls have been excellent.
And sexist. My wife said white is for girls.
Except it is on Sprint’s network so don’t expect it to work too many places.
I ate government cheese once, so I guess I can get an Obama phone.

How many minutes a month do you get?
She just wants your phone.
Ain’t capitalism great? When and where it’s still allowed, that is.

You nailed it Sir. Add in $300 for the phone $25 x 12 and that equals $45 per month for all who are not math challenged.
“It costs close to $300 to begin using Republic Wireless’ service; $249 for the phone, a $10 startup fee, and $19 for your first monthly fee, before any applicable taxes. “
My whole family uses Boost mobile without complaint. It starts as $60 a month for the smart phone service ($50 for my flip phone), then starts dropping by $5 a month - every three months - until you’re down to $40 a month. ($30 is the lowest I can get to with my flip phone.)
They use the Sprint towers, so the service is identical. Just with a lower price and no contracts.
i just use tracfone.
750 min, 500 texts, and I forget how much data. Don’t need a lot of data anyway cause I use my iPad.
I’m looking forward to cutting my monthly bill by 80%! And by by Blackberry.
Free Republic Wireless? Hmmm?
