Patience, persistence, and the ability to take 220 VAC and get up to do it again.

Q: Do you know how to tell the difference between an engineer and an extroverted engineer?

A: The extroverted one stares down at YOUR shoes

A lot of studying and then the willingness to apply what one has learned. See my Engineering page:

Ham radio is fun and good communications. See my Ham Radio page.

220? 600V on the anode of a 6146A at RF frequencies.

That'll set your teef on edge, if you have 'em.

DISCLAIMER: Relying on the bounce off the wall/ceiling to restart your heart is contraindicated. High voltage is dangerous. Batteries not included. Your mileage may vary.

I did bookmark that one, and sent it to some of my family that look at my kitchen/office/hamshack and sigh. ;)

Oh I have. You can be a bit gruff at times. I enjoy that though.

Using DU would solve that pesky spread problem shown on your page.

Depleted Uranium.

I’d heard the joke about the Wife and Mistress years ago but only remembered the punch line. One of my favorite jokes.

6146’s! These ops who run solid state amps don’t know the
fun they are missing. Peak, dip, peak, dip. Or better
still, having the dipole antenna you made come out 1:1 SWR
at the frequency you cut it for, first time.

I got bit by the undischarged plate voltage filter cap for my 813 final once.

When the supply was on, that was 2500VDC.

I don’t remember much, but the imprint I left in the hollow core door behind me showed that I hit it pretty hard.
