CANTON, Ohio -
A northeast Ohio man caught on video apparently making fun of a young girl with cerebral palsy has been sentenced to a month in jail.
William Bailey, 43, was sentenced to the maximum sentence after pleading no contest Tuesday to reduced misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and aggravated menacing, court officials said.
Bailey was caught on cellphone video at a school bus stop making fun of how the 10-year-old disabled girl walks. The video was then widely disseminated on the Internet and local TV news, the (Canton) Repository reported

if he wasnt making fun of the girl then why apologize to her and her family?
Bailey is a 1st class real life douche bag. But Jail? Comeon...Really judge?
Not to pick nits, but WTF? ‘aggravated menacing’?!
It’s true there is nothing you can’t do w/out getting locked-up if they so chose.
Now we can go to jail for mocking someone?
Yes, picking ona disable kid is reprehensible. No quarter given on that point. This guy deserves to get his butt kicked.
But jail? For hurt feelings? I am not sure that is a direction we want to go.
Yep and that was the reduced charge. My my how far we have fallen.
I actually don’t have a problem jailing any grown man who does this to any 10 yr old let alone a disabled child.
Although justice would be him getting his butt severely kicked.
Idicates judicial system is f’ed up and based on touchy feely BS.
Guy thought it was a joke and obviously defended himself and lost.
Should a got an attny.
This judge needs to be removed, sentence appealed and town sued for some type of false incarceration.
“I actually dont have a problem”
Really,that statement is scary.
I would not want your “PC correct” butt on any jury.
“But jail? For hurt feelings? I am not sure that is a direction we want to go”
This would not have happened 50 years ago. A man harassing a child would have been confronted by other men, and that man would have been dealt with. Knowing this, the harassment would not likely have occurred.
Our society has changed so much that anyone coming to the defense of the child may themselves have been attacked (verbally or violently) and with no assurance they would be backed up. Or, if someone did step in, they may have been arrested or even sued.
Society is slowly evolving to where the only real punishment available is being arrested and sent to jail.
We once had a social compact with each other, obey societies rules or the community will deal with it.
Civil societies can exist only when the majority understand and obey the rules of living together. We are no longer a civil society.
Unfortunately the law is a poor substitute for individuals not doing bad things.
Our popular culture praises and rewards bad behavior so we should not be surprised when people behave badly.
aww so sorry to scare you. perhaps you should avoid doing this to a 10 yr old
Oh and its not PC to find this kind of behavior deplorable
Finding his actions deplorable is one thing; finding them illegal is quite another.
this kind of behavior IS deplorable..
But, is it criminal?
As CIB-173RDABN put it so well, if someone were stupid enough to do this 50 years ago they’d get their butt kicked.
Today that would lead to your arrest and jailing. So what other punishment can be applied to people who do stuff like this?
Behavior this can scar children for life. He should have been charged with child abuse.
You are a tyrant. Hope that doesn’t hurt your feelings.
I’m not 10, have at it sport.
You don’t scare me your selective PC mind set does.
The behavior is deplorable,agreed.
The judicial reaction was and is PC and taken to appease the locals and you indicated by your posting, you fully supported those PC actions.
Thats what scares me.
I think you’re just sensitive and fragile.
Jail for being a moron? If people are to be put in jail for being morons, I found over 60,000,000 less than a month ago.
