This should trend: a mother has christened her baby girl Hashtag Jameson. However, instead of taking to Twitter, which spawned the now ubiquitous preface, the mother posted the announcement on Facebook, compounding her apparent #fail, the Daily Mail reported. Hashtags are used to
highlight keywords on microblogging site Twitter. While it is not clear whether the screenshot is a joke, the possibility that a child has been named hashtag still exists.
While some have considered that the little girl will grow up to be the living embodiment of the degradation of the English language, others have simply despaired for the mother, whose last name is Jameson.
The caption that accompanies the photo says: Hashtag Jameson was born at 10 o'clock last nite. She weys 8pounds and i luv her so much!!!!!! (sic)
The image has spread across the internet and been met with universal criticism.
In 2005, a Swedish couple named their baby boy Oliver Google Kai.
The news that there could be a child named after the word most associated with Twitter is reminiscent of the Israeli couple last year who named their girl after the Facebook 'Like' button.
Why not call him “dirtbag” after one’s favorite politician?
“sic” doesn’t even begin to describe it.
If I could have my kids over again, I'd name them MP3 and Dot Com.
How about Trending or Meme?
If I had a red headed step-child, I’d call him ZOT. (you know I am totally kidding.. who would do that to an innocent child?!)
Having an idiot mother does not bode well for the child.
No doubt, bullies will tease her in school by calling her Octothorpe.
Providing you are not joking I am with you. Not the tech names but I have awesome names for my kids. I have 7 girls and 2 boys.
We named our last daughter Pleiade after the constellation Pleiades. 7 sister stars. We have quite a few other “odd” names in the group also.
KEWL! I learned a new word today! Thanks!!!
Zot....
Years ago my young kids wanted a kitty...
I agreed unded one condition...I get to name it...
Took them a few years to figure out why I named him ...Zot
First name: Beef
Middle name: Hashtag
Last name: Brownie
I LOVE it!!!
Sounds like a Palin name.
Troublemaker!
lol
It reminds me of the ‘60s, when hippies would give their children natural type names, like Morning Star, or Sunflower, or Compost Heap.
Old saying: “If you want your daughter to grow up to be a ho, name her Destiny, Maizie, or Flossie.” Or, come to think of it, “.com.”
