With a chip on his shoulder larger than his margin of victory, Barack Obama is approaching his second term by replicating the mistake of his first.
Then his overreaching involved health care expanding the entitlement state at the expense of economic growth. Now he seeks another surge of statism, enlarging the portion of gross domestic product grasped by government and dispensed by politics. The occasion is the misnamed fiscal cliff, the proper name for which is: the Democratic Partys agenda.
For 40 years the partys principal sources of energy and money liberal activists, government employees unions have advocated expanding governments domestic reach by raising taxes and contracting its foreign reach by cutting defense. Obamas four years as one of the most liberal senators and his four presidential years indicate he agrees. Like other occasionally numerate but prudently reticent liberals, he surely understands that the entitlement state he favors requires raising taxes on the cohort that has most of the nations money the middle class.
Mitt Romney as candidate and others before and since have suggested increasing revenues by capping income tax deductions. This would increase that taxs progressivity, without raising rates that would dampen incentives. Obamas compromise may be: Lets do both. Remember the story of when the British Admiralty sought six new battleships, the Treasury proposed four, so they compromised on eight.

Do you really think that screaming this would matter?
It would matter to me. I want the Pubs to get in the faces of these treasonous statists.
Nah. Getting blue in the face won’t make bit of difference. I hear that Dear Leader is off to Hawoya for a “well deserved” 20 day R&R. If I were Boner I’d very calmly announce that since it’s obvious that the President isn’t too concerned about the “fiscal cliff” then neither is the House and therefore we are in recess until Dear Leader gets back. Enjoy your ride over the “cliff”.
Well that would be entertaining. I'm in favor of anything that doesn't involve agreement or compromise. No negotiating.

The Socialist Autocrat may not consider his choices and actions to have been mistakes.
