Laura and I have been hoping for the best and preparing for the worst for quite a while now, but it wasn’t until April of 2011 that we started sharing our experiences and what we’ve learned along the way with others in the form of PreppingToSurvive.

Our goals at the time were pretty simple:

Explain the need we feel for preparing for an uncertain future. Discuss hesitations, concerns, and common objections to prepping that others may harbor. Share common sense approaches to preparing for the future. Provide insight into the physical, emotional, mental, and even spiritual requirements for surviving in a post-TEOTWAWKI world. Over time, our goals haven’t changed. That’s still what we strive to do. We’ve continued to learn new information and develop new skills. We are continually trying to improve our knowledge and deepen our coffers. And we’ve learned a lot from you, from your comments and guest posts. So thank you for participating in this community!

I am a prepper.

I am also a petitioner to secede from the Union.

I am also a birther.

And I prefer cats over dogs.

Oh and Sarah Palin lives less than a dozen miles away from me, and thats a fact.

is there anything else that would cause a braniac implosive attitude upon Obamas zombies?

Why Australia? Not judging, because I am considering moving somewhere that still values liberty and where the moocher class doesn’t outnumber the productive working class yet. But my understanding is that Australia’s government has serious “gun control” issues and (gulp) has even pushed the “global warming” scam down the people’s throat, thereby raping them through higher energy costs. It doesn’t get any more sick than that.

FRegards, and good luck,
LH

On putting so many meals in a bucket, which he finally said would be difficult to do: I'm an organizer because that's what happens when I start solving a problem. I used Walton Foods dehydrated long term foods plus their flour and cornmeal, etc., which they hermetically sealed and put in #10 cans. It was ready to stack and store when I got it.

Before I ordered it, I made menus based on that food, how many times a week we would eat “x”, how much is that for a year, how many #10 cans would that be? That's the way I determined how much of anything to buy and store.

I put off buying grocery store food until I thought it was time to do that so I would have a longer life of it. I've been getting that since Fall of last year. I didn't write down menus for grocery store food like I did for the long term food. I'm so familiar with grocery store food, I bought foods thinking of their going together for a meal as I shopped.

I looked at the suggested menus in one of those articles on this post, and my menus are better than that, either from long life foods or grocery store foods (in my opinion).

I'm probably not typical since I've been doing this since 1998 and made mistakes early on so my mistakes aren't so many now.

Of all countries Australia is second only to Switzerland for a place to be born, the economy and a better place to live.

America is 16th.

As far as gun ownership very few people realize what the laws in Oz are about, you can buy guns, you can make guns. Difference is Oz is trying to keep the guns away from people who don’t know what to do with them or are really dangerous people. Being a gunsmith I would make a tidy living with a simple machine shop making pistols or rifles, possibly a whole new breed. In America I expect Obama to make laws prohibiting the manufacture of weapons from say 2D printers.

In Oz its a vast new frontier, America is an invaded country, and not enough people are motivated to correct it.

I can see a better life in Oz, in America its too gloomy. And misery enjoys company here.
