My guess is that SS will be means tested at some point, so you won't be any better off.

This is all part of the equal opportunity equals equal outcome nonsense that has been bandied about. That concept needs to be defeated, but it will be hard when we bail out huge banks...with taxpayer money.

We're writing bad checks for the future to cash to support those who will not support themselves. There is no reason why those who will not work should live better than those who support them.

Depends on some factors -- you may have more people in your family, you may be supporting more charities, more people (extended relations etc.)

And, you most likely have proper fiscal sense -- saving money, not living on credit

The people you mention may be blowing away their money and living on credit

I believe, or like to believe, that not all the 50% on dole like being there and many would welcome an opportunity to leave it.

It will be defeated sooner or later. At some point economics will get in the way. We see that going on in Europe right now..
