Unhappy With 15-Minute Wait, Man Orders 42 Ice Cream Cones
AsiaOne ^ | November 30, 2012

Only one of seven cashier counters was open, resulting in a long queue. When the cashier didn't give him a valid answer, he ordered the ice cream and placed them on the counter.

It took 42 soft serve cones to 'cool down' a fuming customer.

On Nov 12, a man visited a KFC outlet in Guiyang, Guizhou, China during the busy lunch period.

Although there were many customers, only one out of the seven available cashier counters was open, reported Chinese media.

The man reached the counter after queuing for 15 minutes. He told the employee about the long wait and did not receive a satisfactory answer.

In a fit of anger, he decided to purchase 42 soft serve cones and placed them upside down on the counter.

Some staff members looked at a loss as to how to react to the whole debacle, while some stepped in to stop others from taking photos.

Netizens have uploaded and shared photos of the incident multiple times on various social networking platforms from Weibo to imgur.

KFC China posted a statement on their official Weibo account on Nov 12, apologising for not providing quality service. They also added while they were not trying avoid their mistake, but they hope that others would not waste food in such a manner.

In September, a Beijing man saw an employee preparing burgers without gloves at a KFC outlet in Wuhan. After staff at the outlet did not handle his complaint over food safety adequately, he decided to protect potential customers and warn others about the food by buying 2,000 buckets of chicken.

It is just his fantastic dreams, his vulgar folly that he will desire to retain, simply in order to prove to himself--as though that were so necessary-- that men still are men and not the keys of a piano, which the laws of nature threaten to control so completely that soon one will be able to desire nothing but by the calendar. And that is not all: even if man really were nothing but a piano-key, even if this were proved to him by natural science and mathematics, even then he would not become reasonable, but would purposely do something perverse out of simple ingratitude, simply to gain his point. And if he does not find means he will contrive destruction and chaos, will contrive sufferings of all sorts, only to gain his point! He will launch a curse upon the world, and as only man can curse (it is his privilege, the primary distinction between him and other animals), may be by his curse alone he will attain his object--that is, convince himself that he is a man and not a piano-key!

43 Ice cream cones would made more of a protest statement /s

Well, you never know... I mean, don't forget about the Irishman who made his bean soup with 239 beans.

.

(One more bean and it would have been "too farty".)

43 would just not do and here is why:

42 -The Almighty Answer to the Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything. It was calculated by the computer Deep Thought for seven million years and when asked to build a better computer to discover the Question to the Life, the Universe, and Everything, it built the Earth. Before the Earth could tell the Question however, it was destroyed by the Vogons to make room for an interstellar highway bypass. For more information, see The Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

Sooo...wait, how is this different from this country, where the same thing is done as a "cost saving" measure?

Some staff members looked at a loss as to how to react to the whole debacle, while some stepped in to stop others from taking photos.

Yet, it seems through the entire thing, not one employee stepped up to open more cashiers to move the line along. If he paid for the ice cream, they're his to do with what he pleases. He didn't destroy anything property or assault anyone. Yes, he made a mess but no more than a bratty 4 year old. Also noted that no employee stepped up to clean the mess before it spread across the counter and melted down onto the floor.
