SPEAK UP: BOB COSTAS' ANTI-GUN COMMENTS
Tom Gresham's Gun Talk Newsletter ^ | Dec. 3, 2012 | Tom Gresham

Posted on 12/03/2012 1:33:41 PM PST by deoetdoctrinae

To see Clueless Costas blithely skip into the middle of this tragedy with such shallow and demonstrably false assumptions belies his reputation as a heretofore respected reporter.

The mountain of evidence to contradict his anti-gun assertions looms large and would have been easy to find.

Excuse me?? When did Costas become a respectable reporter??

Costas has a constitutional right to state his opinion but he has no right to use his position as a highly-paid (reportedly 5 million per year - so he can hire bodyguards) TV sports announcer to hijack a tragedy and use it as a vehicle to attack the Second Amendment as part of his commentary on a football game. Oh, I forgot. He works at NBC. Never mind.

I’m in the business. Emails to the Director of Marketing of any major sponsor to the NFL WILL have repercussions - ESPECIALLY in this economy.

I graduated a few years before he did and before they opened HS South. There was only CHS back when I graduated. I kept a 12 gauge in the trunk and after classes drove around behind the HS to the end of the development to my friends house. We walked into the fields and woods there and hunted quail and rabbits and an occasional pheasant would show up.

If costas would have seen us with our weapons the little sissy-Mary would have ‘shipped’ himself

NFL Firearms Policy:

“Prohibitions. Whether possessed legally or illegally, guns and other weapons of any kind are dangerous. You and your family can easily be the losers if you carry or keep these items in your home. You must not possess these weapons while traveling on League-related business or whenever you are on the premises of the following:

• A facility owned, operated, or being used by an NFL club (for example, training camp, dormitory, locker room, workout site, parking area, team bus, team plane, team hotel/motel);

• A stadium or any other venue being used for an NFL event (for example, a game, practice, or promotion);

• A facility owned or operated by the NFL or any League company. Put simply, the League, the Players Association, and law enforcement authorities urge you to recognize that you must not possess a gun or other weapon at any time you are performing any service for your team or the NFL.”

Belcher violated this policy when he took the gun to the sports complex. I’m not trying to be glib or cute...just pointing out that policies and laws cannot stop people from homocidal behaviour. He shot the woman 9 times...I imagine that lack of a gun would not have stopped his rage. He could have used any variety of weapons (to include his fists) to attack her.

Its a terrible tragedy...which equals ‘opportunity’ to people like Costas. It is fairly rare for legally posessed guns to be used in a murder...and Costas is smart enough to be able to look that up. He just choses not to.

Rush's point on his show today applies common sense; (paraphrasing) unless in a rare fluke circumstance, a firearm will not kill anybody or anything by itself. Just like a knife, a stone, a club etc., any weapon used on a personal level has to first be in the hands of a human. It is asinine/moronic to accuse an inanimate object as the cause of injury to anything or anybody. Rush challenged any gun grabber to show him where a firearm killed somebody by itself.

This is just another example of the liberal left using the death or shooting of a ‘celebrity’ to advancetheir gun elimination cause. It is disgusting to see Bob Costas,et al standing on the coffin of some poor unfortunate soul(s)trying to get trackion their assinine cause. “they would be alive today except for the gun”. LIAR LIAR LIAR.

GET THIS SH*T OFF THE AIR, ESPECIALLY ON NFL GAMES.

I will continue to watch NFL games but I will boycot the sponsors if this is not taken care of immediately.

Here we are noticing Bob and talking about him for the first time in 20 years (and googling “Ndamukong Suh” long enough to find out he’s not Asian before we forget him again), so I guess it worked out for Bob (and Ndamukong).

Where is the best place to send an email?

help@profootballtalk.com?

If you go to the NFL website, the contact link says you should only use it if you have a problem with the website.

Costas quoted Jason Whitlock, and longtime sports writer for the KC Red Star.

Whitlock is not known as a “deep thinker.”

Costas may have quoted Jason Whitlock, but he came across as strongly endorsing the same conclusion. He blamed the gun for the murder not the individual. We all know Belcher could just have easily used his own fists, a knife, baseball bat, or whatever. Football was the only left that I watched on NBC. As of half time Sunday night, I will never, ever, tune in to a single program on the NBC network, sorry “ba$turds”.

BUMP

Costas chose the quote on purpose, because he agreed with it. End of story. Costas should be ridiculed and called what he is, a fool with a political axe to grind.
