WPFW (89.3, or the far left of the dial, as we used to day) has been beyond barking moonbat for decades.

It’s said their call letters stand for “We’re Public Field Workers”.

Their website indicates that Pacifica is looking to hire a CFO.

yes—as for call letter meanings or nicknames years ago NYC
had WEVD, for Eugene V Debs:

>>WEVD (originally broadcasting at 1220 AM, later on 1300 and finally on 1330, was an American news-talk radio station launched in August 1927 by the Socialist Party of America. Making use of the initials of recently deceased party leader Eugene Victor Debs in its call sign... The station was purchased with a $250,000 radio fund raised by the Socialist Party in its largest fundraising effort of he 1920s and was intended as spreading progressive ideas to a mass audience. A number of national trade unions and other institutions aided the Socialists in obtaining the station.

also:

>>WCFL-AM, radio station in Chicago operated by the Chicago Federation of Labor.

Debs:
(wiki):”Debs read the works of Karl Marx and learned about socialism in prison, emerging to launch his career as the nation’s most prominent Socialist in the first decades of the 20th century. He ran as the Socialist Party’s candidate for the presidency in 1900, 1904, 1908, 1912, and 1920, the last time from a prison cell.”
