With Bielema leaving, what's next for Wisconsin?
Yahoo Sports ^ | Dec. 4, 2012 | Dave Miller | National Football Post

The Big Ten is on the verge of losing one of its most successful head coaches.

As first reported by Pat Forde of Yahoo! Sports, Bret Bielema will leave Wisconsin to take over at Arkansas.

Bret BielemaUS PRESSWIREBret Bielema is leaving Wisconsin for Arkansas.

The Badgers head coach, who led his team to a Rose Bowl berth for the third straight year, was never mentioned in numerous reports, both local and national, as a possible replacement for John L. Smith with the Razorbacks. Certainly, Hogs athletic director Jeff Long did a wonderful job of keeping Bielema's name under wraps during this search, although it is unknown how high Bielema was on Long's list of initial candidates.

While the news comes out of left field, Bielema could be a good fit with the Hogs because he's used to working harder than most of his fellow Big Ten coaches on the recruiting trail. He will need to be at his best in the rugged SEC, especially with a program that lacks some of the built-in luxuries that other SEC schools possess.

An announcement will reportedly come today, but Bielema is not expected to be introduced as new Hogs head coach until Wednesday.

One teams loss is another teams gain. I hope he does well here in Arkansas even if he is named after a eating disorder. I’m going to give him a chance.

Bret came up under Iowa Coach Hayden Fry.
I think his new job is less than a lateral move.

I hope he does also, even though I'm not a 'hog' fan. Wonder what the amount of money and time the contract entailed. It had to have been BIG.

“Never trust anyone with a Hawkeye tattoo”

Will never forget him mouthing off to our Iowa State coach after we lost to them.
He was a player for the Hawks; and unleashed a profanity laced tirade against the opposing coach. Low class.

Why's Bielma leaving a sure thing in Wisconsin, where he can be adored for years afterwards?

-SEC FOOTBALL, BABY! You want to be the best, you have to play the best. Instead of Purdon't, Iowa, Meatchicken, and the Luckeyes every year, they have to play perennial powerhouses like Alabama, LSU, Georgia, The Mississippi State University, Texas A&M, Auburn, et.al.

-$$$$$$! Arkansas can more than match anything Wisconsin can pay.

-The biggest game in Wisconsin is the Green Bay Packers. As long as he's in Wisconsin, he'll always be second-fiddle. In Arkansas, the biggest game (after marrying your cousin) is Arkansas Razorback football. He'll be more popular than the Governor if he beats Alabama. Razorback-nation is psycho, but they'll be YOUR psychos.

5 million versus 2.5 million. I've heard that there were some who weren't UNhappy to see him depart. He's a good recruiter and with the lower academic standards of the SEC, he should be very successful.

Boosters were sick of him. Successful but not universally popular in Madison.

I was just thinking the same thing. Bret played at Wisconsin. Unless a huge raise was involved why would he leave? I’m certain it was due to all the Blue State revolutionary anarchy that took place in Madison over the last two years.

Bielema was just married earlier this year. If he plans on raising a family, Arkansas affords a far better location than the leftist outpost of Madison. It's a safer, pro-gun, pro-God, pro-life region compared to the atheistic, crime-infested, hippie haven of the Wisconsin capital city.

Dane County, WI went 71% for Obama compared to only 40% for the Marxist in Washington County, AR. It's quite a move up; he'll be around a lot better class of people.
