Sounds interesting. Thanks for the heads-up.
Meanwhile, did anyone see the Baby Peggy documentary on Monday night? It’s amazing that she’s 94 now, and still so sharp and articulate.

Yes, it was interesting. I really had never heard of her before but she had an amazing if short career.

Never heard of her. Reminds me of a scene in WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE?.
Jane goes into a newspaper office to place an add. She says “Maybe you don’t remember me but I am Baby Jane Hudson.”
When she leaves one of the other men in the office says..”Who in the world is Baby Jane Hudson?”

TMC and the Western channel are the only two channels worth watching. Oh how they could make movies in the 40’s and 50’s.
To: longhorn too
Don't forget the 30’s!
America's cultural peak was 1939.

To search for vintage films on youtube just use this link. Change the year to any year you wish. This returns only single part full films. If you are OK with films in multiple parts just remove the ",long".
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=1930%2C+long&lclk=long
To download the film use the DownloadHelper Firefox add-on. I usually save the highest resolution .flv file of the film and view them using the free VLC media player. If the film is in HD then the 720p or 1080p file will be an .MP4
Here is a still from the HD version of "Ladies of Leisure" I posted above. The still was saved from the MP4 file using VLC. As you can see the quality is superb.

I really had never heard of her before but she had an amazing if short career." What? Good grief! Is 35 plus years of popular and outstanding acting the definition of "short"?

I’m talking about Diana Sera Carey/Peggy Montgomery (aka ‘Baby Peggy’). The documentary on her aired on TCM Monday.

Yes, 1939 was an excellent year for movies!
To: svcw
This movie is a lovely example of a pre code film.
But...Kay's a prostitute? That violates my first rule of fantastic filmmaking- you have to love the main character.
