Before the boating accident
At payout, damned clerk asked me if it was for a handgun. I said, no, why? His african-ness said it (assuming, the cash register) said to ask. Admittedly, he was as surprised. This is new! WTF!
I've been buying ammo at Walmart for years. This is a first. Now we have hyphenated clerks asking us questions about our ammo purchases?
Sorry, that did it for me. We're done. Some shlubs will say yes, then what?
And I’m such a smartass that I would have replied: “No, it’s for an AK-47.”
GEEZ! Take your business elsewhere.....to a mom&pop shop...buy small...even if it costs you a bit more, is my philosophy.
If it’s for a handgun, he would have to check your ID to see if you are 21. You must be a young guy. Did he also ask if you want the extended warranty?
How ironic, I lost all my boats in a tragic shooting accident.
Wonder what they would do if you said “Yes, its for a handgun”.
Does Wally World even sell handgun amo?
Walmart sells a whole variety of ammo.
So it was for ID? I was never questioned before. This was the first post-re-election purchase.
The shelves are fairly well stocked. Nothing like pre-08.
Around here, yes...it’s the stuff in the locked case.
Rifle ctgs and shotgun shells are out on the shelves.
This is Grand Rapids, MI. YMMV.
“I use the .22 shells for my sling shot. Why do you ask?”
Your problem is that you don’t have carbines for all the caliber ammos ... there are ‘rifles’ now available in just about every pistol caliber, so your ammo purchases are ALL for rifles, never a handgun, an evil, deadly, out of control HAND GUN.
You should have told him you needed them to replace some burnt out fuses in your car.
dayum, and it’s not even Monday!
“...asked me if it was for a handgun...”
I think it has the acrid stench of “lawyer” about it.
I was gonna mention the three consecutive 500-year floods here atop Granite Peak...but maybe I’ll wait a couple days..
(lol!)
I'm thinking about putting a .357 Mag./.38 SP lever action on my Christmas list.
I haven't set foot in a Walmart in 3 1/2 years.
*snort*
No, its for my BB gun.

LMAO!
I’d look pained and say, “Hell, I dunno, Hubby put them on my list!”.
And what’s up with ‘His african-ness’? Did he pull some kind of attitude, or as you said,’Admittedly, he was as surprised. This is new! WTF!’.
Walmart has had a policy for a long time to keep records of purchases of hand gun ammo.
And by the way, if you were paying cash, the FBI, BATF and whatever clandestine organization you fear may be watching you would never have known you were shopping there.
But to be on the safe side, in the future, you might want to consider wearing a disguise.......try this one.
“And whats up with His african-ness?”
==
I wondered the same thing. I have no idea what it means and am looking forward to an explanation.
.
Just bought some .22LR last week at a Walmart in MN and the just wanted to verify if I was over 18. I’m near forty but still look 21.
We only buy local from Mom and Pops. I don’t care if the price is triple Walmarts. I use to be a M & P and we paid sometimes more than Walmart sold stuff for. Also the Walmart clerks don’t know where the best fishing and hunting is but M & P can hook you up and that’s worth 10 times the price.
come on up to the UP of Michigan there are places begging for people to buy their ammo here and also in Northern Wisconsin. what little snow that fell day after Thanksgiving we had melted. business has been slow for some, due to the dry spell during the summer, unusually wet October, now a low snowfall that will make the lakes dry up more. not enough purchases being made.
Now we have hyphenated clerks asking us questions about our ammo purchases?
Aren't there other websites for that sort of offensive commentary?
LOL
Would it be illegal to purchase ammo for a rifle that you don't yet own but intend to buy at some point in the future?
Rant on.
I’m exasperated with this “boating accident” meme.
Yes, I understand the joke and its basis.
Yes, I know it’s a “wink wink nudge nudge” funny.
It still feeds into an attitude of being ashamed or afraid of admitting to gun ownership.
I didn’t lose mine. Anywhere. Not gonna go into details of what I have.
One of many reasons I bought NFA items was that there would be no question whether I’m “on the list” - heck yeah I am: between that and C&R I’m a card-carrying good guy certified as such by the one group who I have greatest concern to trust me least.
It’s embarrassing to see how many take, however jokingly, the tone of “uh, I lost mine...”
Heck, Charles Barkely fessed up to owning and carrying. Can’t you?
Rant off.
Know how you feel...Lost all my water guns during the drought of 49...
With democraps in power, anything is possible.
If you understood the purple entitlement class mentality of broward county fl, you would understand the hyphenated comments. I am a minority in this particular walmart. No winks, just observations. And yes they have attitudes. How else do you think debbie ws keeps getting elected?
So Teddy Roosevelt was wrong? He was against hyphenation.
Amen to what you said .........and from my perspective, that applies to any Christmas shopping you are obliged to do. :)
The people who say they lost their guns in a boating accident are joking.
The people who cache their firearms, do it, and don't say anything.
Amen. My neighbors are where the dollars go. Forgetting service, hospitality and knowledge destroyed many parts of our country. It took me YEARS to talk my wife into understanding “support your local store”.
Even if you could save 40%. You have to drive 100 miles and spend all day shopping. Fudge that!
Hot Tabasco has an excellent point. Call me paranoid, but from now on I’m making all my ammo purchases with cash.
