Just finished an exceptional book about Dwight Birdwell's time with the C/3/4 of 25th ID in Vietnam 67-68. He was awarded two Silver Stars for his actions while there including one involved with the defense of Tan Son Nhut Air Base near Saigon. The writing is very unpretentious and blunt about what he saw and felt, both there and upon his return to Oklahoma. He eventually became a lawyer with his own practice.
45 years ago yesterday December 5 1967 I found a 35 pound land mine with a bulldozer. BOOM
Gee I am getting old.
Spring of ‘67, I was graduating high school.
Seems like another world from here...
Nui Ba Dien, Go Da Ha, Cu Chi, Tay Ninh West, Ho Bo Woods. 1968 69.
“The older I gets, the better I wuz”
If it wernt for flashbacks, I would have no memory at all.
