The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread ... there is no telling where it will go and that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!

I had a free range ‘mater pop up about 6 weeks ago I may put a bucket on it since it has had a couple blooms stick...I doubt I can nurse it through the Winter tho.
My Neighbor with the tiller is moving I’m gonna have to come up with a tiller...unnnggghhh.
It is vigorous, and is also evergreen. I ordered it online and it is excellent. I just wish that I had made a note of the company name, because I wouldn’t mind getting more of it. Next spring I’m going to try to either dig up part of one of the plants, or try to grow a cutting. It’s beautiful.

I’ve got 12 cabbages growing in the winter garden, along with about 200 garlic cloves, about half of which have sprouted. This is near Raleigh, NC.
In the space between the barn and a wall I’ve got a few arugula plants and some spinach.
In a month or so I’ll start some broccoli indoors.
Yes, Stevia is the natural sweetner. I just use the dried leaves in with the dried tea leaves when I make tea. I have a little book, though that tells how to make a green powder and has some recipes.
It also gives hints for growing it. It is supposed to be perennial in zones 5-6, so this is the first year I am trying it in the outdoors garden.

Stevia is great stuff. Mrs. Augie uses it in her tea and has been experimenting with it as a sugar substitute for baking.
Just switch to no till. It is easier.LOL
I nursed some tomatoes and peppers through some short term freezes with row covers and straw, but you are correct about long term in the winter. Best to dig them up and bring them in.
Tomatoes won’t set fruit below a certain temperature,IIRC it may be 50 degrees.
You have been added. Welcome to our little thread. Glad to have an addition after the snorting complaint that we are too “junior” to be allowed any bandwith.
Nothing growing up here in Michigan except my Egyptian walking onions. They’ll have green shoots all through the winter. Those of you unfamiliar just google it. They root incredibly deep and stay alive all through the winter. I always have green onions and the older ones get almost as large as leeks. In the summer they form clove heads at the top that can be used for propagation or peeled and used like shallots. They do spread like crazy and have given away many clumps over the years.

While the local non-gardening liberals and marxists will be ordering Domino’s tonight; my wife and I will be enjoying home-made pizza featuring sauce made from (OMG) home-grown tomatoes from the garden...there’s ten bucks in our pocket for bills or whatever. :-)
Thanks for the support-I really was a bit incredulous that someone could get so worked up over a little harmless chit chat.
Stevia is something I am experimenting with too. I wanted to grow my own, because so much of what is in the stores is mixed with sucrose, dextrose, or one of the ose’s.LOL
Not to mention, a product that is much more nutritious and so much better in taste! Nothing beats home-grown herbs and vegetables!
