Meet the 30-year-old plumber and Mayan apocalypse believer who has been camping below Mount Bugarach for a week, waiting for the end of the world.
Sparked by rumours on the internet, dedicated believers including Ludovic Broquet hope that the peak might provide a refuge from the impending apocalypse which dedicated followers of the Mayan calendar think will come about just 4 days before Christmas.
December 21 marks the conclusion of the 5,125-year "Long Count" Mayan calendar.
The 30-year old Mr Brouquet, a plumber and apocalypse believer travelled from Bordeaux for the occasion. He has been camping in the mountains near the peak of Bugarach for almost a week.
Located at an altitude of 1,230 metres (4,040 feet), near the border between France and Andorra, the Bugarach mountain is the highest peak in the Corbieres mountains.
"I've been preparing this trip for about twelve months, I've known this for two years, and I'm here to try to find out this kind of gateway, the vortex that will maybe open up here for the day of the end of the world," said Mr Broquet.

Nothing dramatic is going to happen on that day.
This Mayan crap is getting really boring. I wish to hell I could get a bet down with one of these true believers.
I bet you could. Some Mayan chief came out last year and said nothing was going to happen.
And on Dec. 22, life will go on. As happened back when Y2K was a perceived threat ... the next day, life went on.
And all those that panicked will be embarrassed.
But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
It’d be fun to send a bunch of streakers their way on the 21st!
I guess if anyone is going to survive the Mayan Apocalypse, it is only fitting and proper that it should be a plumber.
Get the bet before telling them that the Mayans didn’t observe leap years!
My brother and I were joking tonight that’s what Boner and Zer0 are counting on. When Dec 22 hits - it’s all over.
Dumb, mountains can fall, better to be out in the middle of a flat desert.
So much to do. So little time...
