Has Anyone Been Having Trouble With Their Yahoo E-Mail Inbox? [Vanity]
12/12 | self

Posted on 12/12/2012 12:01:54 PM PST by Lmo56

This only applies to those who use Yahoo E-Mail ...

Has anyone noticed problems recently when clicking "Check Mail" or "Inbox"?

My mother uses Yahoo E-Mail and has had a TERRIBLE time of late. Either the Inbox won't open or [if it does], she cannot perform any tasks on it [such as opening e-mail messages, deleting, moving, etc.].

I have been called in several times and have been able to get things working to some degree - but then the problem comes back in a day or two. Then, I have to get things working again.

I am not doing anything special to correct the problem - so I cannot pinpoint a root cause. I just keep clicking away at the messages and it finally works.

There is no problem with my Internet connection, so I was wondering if anyone on FR was having the same problems with Yahoo E-Mail. If so, have they found a solution - this is getting VERY frustrating.

If you answer this thread, PLEASE do not offer a suggestion such as switching E-Mail providers. My mother is in her 90's and she IS NOT going to switch [I already tried that route]. While your intention might be good, it WILL NOT add to the resolution of my problem.

FYI: I did send an e-mail to Yahoo Customer Support - AS USUAL, they had NOTHING friggin' constructive to say ...

Do the clear the history thing. See if that helps.

yes constantly. it has to do with the adserver not delivering the ads in time for the next refresh so the browser freezes waiting. nothing Customer service can do except recommend you switch to the paid service which is just as bad. I have to reboot quite often to start fresh sessions.

I’ve cleaned my browser cache several times during this debacle.

The problem APPEARS to be exclusively limited to the Inbox Web page - as I can [usually} open “Recent Unread E-Mail” from the main Yahoo E-Mail Web page.

Also, I can right-click and copy the link shortcut of a given e-mail on the Inbox Web page, paste it into the URL box at the top of the browser, enter, and then get to the e-mail.

I guess that is a possibility - i did notice [at least one time] that I was able to get into an e-mail RIGHT after an ad at the top of the page had changed ...

BTW: My Mom only has dial-up. NEVER wanted high-speed, WON'T have it. BUT, I have been thinking about paying for her to get "triple-play" anyway. You think the adserver problem might go away if I get her high-speed?

Mrs. shove_it and I have experienced a variety of bugs in this ‘new and improved’ version of Yahoo Mail. We’ve tried to stick with the ‘classic’ version but that became unbearable some time ago. It has reached the point with us that I have opened a Gmail account and am trying to phase into it. Her main problem is with attachments. She has a large group of friends she corresponds with daily. After sending a few Emails to a large number of contacts, Yahoo shuts her down and will not allow her to send any more Email that day. It’s as if Yahoo thinks she’s a spammer. She gets no response from Yahoo ‘help’ with any of these problems.

I’m tired of listening to her gripe about it since I’m unable to fix her problems, so we’re going to Gmail.

I have had a Yahoo mail account for years.

I just logged in and everything worked like it should.

Has she rebooted recently? Sometimes, the computer needs that.

Or a close and reopening of the browser.

I've experienced this. I have better luck clicking the "Inbox" link on the top menu than clicking the "Inbox" link on the side menu.

I have found that shutting down Firefox and restarting it makes it go away. For awhile.

Both of you should try to log in through Yahoo Canada:

yahoo.ca

You think the adserver problem might go away if I get her high-speed?

My Internet seemed to get slower and slower, lagging during page loads, etc. I had highspeed cable, but that didn't seem to matter on either my XP desktop or XP laptop.

Last summer I ran across a good deal on a Win7 laptop. After I connected it, I was amazed at how much speedier my Internet became. A couple of months later, I replaced the XP desktop with a new Win7.

So, Yes, the problem could be partly with dial-up and partly with the computer.

Make sure you use a good strong 10 character or longer password, mixed case, special characters etc. Yahoo and AOL are common hacker targets and Yahoo will force users to change passwords if their algo thinks the user’s account has been compromised.

Sarah Palin’s Yahoo account was compromised and so was General Patreaus’ mistresses account.

My Yahoo mail works fine. Consider that she may have a virus causing the problems and run a scan on her machine.

I’ve cleaned my browser cache several times

How do you do that? I'm using SeaMonkey. Similar to Firefox.

Yahoo blows big time. I have about 6 accounts because the dummy site keeps kicking me out. And it either thinks I am some troll trying to hack my own site or it has mad it super difficult to access the email accounts. And for some reasons I get unanswerable security questions or messages that I have to come back later to answer them because the account has been restricted. This email program is a joke that I could rant about all day and night on. They have also require you to log into your email account within a certain amount of time before deactivating them. And I use one primary one that since I started it has had no problems but the secondary ones have problems accessing them. So I have reached my limit. Worst of all my email account for my web service is through yahoo. Look the service is poor. I have tried to get help before and I have no time to waste on it.

Correction because I was so mad that I wrote fast and did not check spelling.

I nearly was hijacked using yahoo as well because I had a tech install spyware into my computer when I called. There is so much that has happened between me and yahoo as I have been with them since 1999 that I am done. for a good ten years I was able to use two accounts with different login names at least and those were the first to get restricted.

No problems here...Yahoo Mail is “JavaScript” based...have you updated Java lately? Many JAVA security & other “fixes” were released recently.

I have that problem occasionally. When it occurs, I run Advanced System Care and that clears it up.

Has Anyone Been Having Trouble With Their Yahoo E-Mail Inbox?

Frequently. Sometimes opening 'My Yahoo' in a new window or tab, closing the 'mail' window/tab and re-opening the 'mail' window/tab from the 'My Yahoo' page will fix the problem.
