Vanity: 12.12.12 Hurricane Sandy Relief Concert

Posted on 12/12/2012 6:17:34 PM PST by goodwithagun

I'm curious about this 12.12.12 relief concert. Why do they need financial support from private citizens? New York and New Jersey voted for a candidate that promised big government is the solution to their problems. Has the government not provided for all their needs after the hurricane destruction?

What makes you think ANY MONEY donated as a result of this will actually Go to the People, their past record demonstrates that NONE OF IT WILL, The vast majority of events put on by ENTERTAINERS is usually siphoned off in Expenses, the Average is 80%. In Bon Jovi’s case it was 98%. Give your money to a Reputable Charity like the Salvation Army and screw these Rat Bastard Immoral sorry excuses for ENTERTAINERS.

The Who killed it tonight, five songs

I liked that they got Keith to sing - albeit in archive footage ...

Too bad they didn't have footage of Entwhistle singin' "My Wife", GREAT song ...

I didn’t realize Mick Taylor is performing with the Stones on Thursday and Saturday nights. Wow! A long time coming for that. Saturday show is on ppv. I’ve never paid for anything like that, but I’m tempted. Mick Taylor!?

Yup. There’s an article in a New Jersey newspaper today:

Mick Taylor to roll with the Stones at Prudential Center

They go to a ritzy concert, and beg other people to give their money so they can use other people’s money to get credit for being charitable.”
Let’s not forget the lavish parties, the caviar and booze, the red carpet treatment, the bling bags worth tens of thousands
...and like all those African relief concerts, the money will disappear and the people may see a few bags of rice drop from a cargo plane if they are lucky.

but will make them feel soooo good. susprised barry wasn’t there politicking.

Nice to hear them praising the evil Chase Bank, and those other big wig corporate sponsors.

Musically, I would have to say The Who(’s left) were fantastic.

Why did the Stones bother with just 2 songs?

Get this terrible Kanye West guy off, please......

Just looked on Twitter. Kanye’s performance not going over well. Apparently he threw the mic on stage and stormed off.

Did you miss comments from freepers who actually have gone to help the victims?

We just find it funny how the left thinks they can help people, by begging other people to give money.

Enjoy the concert - but give your money to the Salvation Army.

Oh no, it’s the Barry Manilow of rock now, Jann Wenner’s favorite! There should have been a warning.

I don't know about the owners of ocean front property, but too many of the folks of which I am aware, are middle class people who could not afford flood insurance because of the cost and this was the only house they could buy.

I don't know how the finances of this concert will play out, but my FRiend, good, honest people are hurting.

May I respectfully request that you contact your church, synagogue, mosque, fraternal organization, union, or any other charitable organization or interest group that you trust, and ask if you can help through them.

The ocean was 14 feet higher than mean-high-water because of the storm surge and the full moon high tide. This was not a tidal wave. The water just, kept, rising - higher than anyone alive in these neighborhoods has ever seen. People, their homes and dreams, drowned.

If you or other Freepers can help those in need, thank you.

If you cannot see it in your heart, go in peace.

I am as suspicious as you.

If you can see it in your heart, please contact your usual charity and ask what you can donate, through them, to help.

Thanks,

My comments were not directed to those who help, have helped, or will help

I am disappointed and disgusted by the hateful comments that suggest because NY and NJ electoral college votes went to 0bamma, none of the people of those states should not be helped.

The particular areas affected were not 0bamma supporters, but even if they were, so what?

I'm tired of this. Search your heart. Help or not.

Go in peace.

They, or in any case many of them, were swayed in their votes by Obama’s photo-op with Chris Christie, or whatever his name is, because “he cares for me”, unlike of course that Republican Mormon. That photo-op should have fixed all their problems, as I see it, who needs this benefit concert now? A millionaire TV anchorman is speaking now, how much is he contributing? The nation is divided, don’t forget now!

Some old left handed bass player wearing a wig is on stage now singing Charles Manson’s favorite tune!
