Libertarian Internet impresario Matt Drudge, who delights in mischief above all else, is no doubt enjoying the sh*tstorm he created Wednesday by splashing the N-word seven times in bold capital letters (spelled out except for substituting * for the i) at the top of his Drudgereport.com homepage. DRUDGE REPORT
Matt Drudge from The Drudge Report. (Michael Caulfield/AP)
Other than going for shock and awe, Drudges purpose wasnt entirely clear, although he linked his repetitively epithetic headline to a film review of Quentin Tarantinos latest violent mockudrama, Django Unchained, about a mid-19th Century former slave (played by Jamie Foxx) who wreaks gory vengeance on the evil white masters of Dixie. Sort of Inglourious Basterds transferred from World War II Europe to the Old South.
Drudge, as usual, declined to comment on his incendiary exhibition leaving tweeters, bloggers and pundits to boil in their own stew of outrage and confusion.
I thought it was a really dumb headline, and without any context it becomes a really dumb conversation, said cultural critic Touré, cohost of MSNBCs The Cycle and author of the recent book Whos Afraid of Post-Blackness?. What is being said here? Did Quentin Tarantino go on some kind of Michael Richards rage thing where he cursed out some black people? No, not at all.

Bet it was in response to Jamie Fox’s reaction to murdering whites in the film as being great.
WOW- Matt gets right over the target- and BULLSEYE! Does he ruffle their feathers! Praying for you, Matt. These are ugly people, with small minds and violent tempers.
Pretty easy to understand.
The same words were repeated in the movie time and time again.
Only an illiterate would not see that.
Except for the “N word” how many other words are there in the English language that are forbidden?
Was it re the hot dog vendor that got trampled by the union goons?
I don’t get it. The movie is supposedly wall to wall with the N word but Drudge is wrong for mentioning it?
If it’s OK for Quentin Tarantino to use it 109 times in his movie, why isn’t it OK for Matt to use it 5 times on his web page?

Maybe Scarlett Johansen will be cast as the lead in the Billie Holiday story. < /sarc >
If it’s okay for Quentin can it be put back in broadcasts of Blazing Saddles?
I think he used it 7 times, but I still see your point.
Only the Amish can call each other “amish”, we can’t.
Quentin Tarantino sure is getting a whole bunch of free publicity for his new movie.
Maybe he was Japanese

But apparently no one thinks he's white anymore.
Did Drudge make the movie?
Is there some reason he shouldn't call attention to it?
I guess that the Libs are pissed because he didn't spike the story like their beloved "journalists" have done.
The worst “N word” I could think of to call Jamie Fox would be “NEIGHBOR.”
Somehow, I think that a movie character who kills the slave owners who keep members of his family in bondage will be regarded by most people as the hero of the movie.
...we’re not mad at Hollywood for making it, we’re just mad at Drudge for reporting it....
shucks, only certain people are allowed to use the “N” word.
Byrd could use it when he said “White N*gg*r” He was allowed.
U ever see how some treat their own kind? Wow! that’s allowed.
Don’t get near that if you are a pub or a conservative. We are all racists!
Ask Sissy Matthews, he is what Byrd said.
bobo
Reviews of the movie include the descriptions
[white?] "cruelty and swagger of scorn,"
[white] "unspeakable slave-owner Calvin Candie,"
"[accommodations for black men]which outrages the local racists,"
"[One] Tarantino [movie] gave the Nazi top brass what for. This time, the topic for irreverent dissection is American slavery,"
"[a] brutal dispatch of a couple of key characters late in the day is done with cold efficiency, when they [the white guys?] deserved more;"
speaking of deserving more the movie will arouse passions and we can expect an explosion of interest in "Knockout Games." Thanks a lot, Tarantino, I hope you get an up close experience or two playing the Knockout Game. (Even better if Foxx did it.)
The movie is more racial NBC-style Zimmerman "journalism": If at first it don't seethe try, try anything to make it seethe.
At least one instance of beating whites as a result of "get whitey" messages in a movie made it to the courts -- 20 years ago
"In . . . Wisconsin v. Mitchell, 508 U.S. 476 (1993), Mitchell and several black youth were outside a movie theater after viewing Mississippi Burning, in which several blacks are beaten. A white youth happened to walk by, and Mitchell yelled, There goes a white boy; go get him! Mitchell and the others attacked and beat the boy."
There’s also the “F-word.” No, not the one that rhymes with “truck.”
I can think of a few others, such as:
- Numbskull
- Nitwit
- Nincompoop
- Nucklehead
You’re not alone. I’m not outraged by Drudge, Foxx or Tarantino.
Actually he didn’t use the word “nigger” he spelled it out as n*gger. Who knows if the letter replaced by the * was an a?
Maybe he was saying about Foxx that he was a nagger?
Looks like they are racist for assuming that the word was what they thought it was.
You keep using that word. I don’t think it means what you think it means. LOL
Black Congressmen ask Congress to investigate..
Django Unchained Under Congressional Scrutiny
"The racism of those white actors seemed a little too real. Were they really acting," a spokesman asked.
"There's no evidence and that's why we have to investigate."
"Hey! That's my line." Tom Foley, Democrat and former Speaker, on why George H.W. Bush and the 1980 "October Surprise" had to be investigated.
I bet it was offensive to a lot of women....
NAGGER...NAGGER...NAGGER...NAGGER........
What else COULD it be?
I think the controversy should be a movie that uses it over 100 times rather than a website that mentions this fact
What else COULD it be?
I know, let's ask Randy Marsh. He's a wiz at word puzzles.
you’t think
Good for Drudge. Push liberalism hate in their faces and make them eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Jamie Foxx is a big fat racist.
Am I to understand that this movie uses the N-Word more than Pulp Fiction did?????????????
I understand that he was a Belgian Gypsy.
LOL. Great episode!
Mr Samuel Langhorne Clemens
Dear Mr. Clemens,
May I offer apologies to you for the slight that our society has awarded you, because you use words of an era, to pen a great essay. The tales you authored was well written and told of a time long past to us of today. Things then were as they are today sometimes not pleasant. By your use of certain words, today’s society has ostracized your writings and expunged certain words, because they offend.
Now a new wave of writers reuse those same words and apply them with vigor to everyday life and fictional prose. The shame is how the hypocritical Prostitutes /”Artists” of today think their work has value.
Maybe the powers that be will one day allow people to again read your unabridged work and understand your messages.
A faithful reader,
Goyakla
Misspelled joggers.
If he really wanted to exact some revenge, shouldn't he be tracking down the African tribal leader who sold his ancestors into slavery?
Same as when executives got made at Charlton Heston for reading lyrics from the album Cop Killer at a shareholders' meeting.
