So yesterday I heard Michael Medved on the radio (noon pacific time) and he was beating up on "assault" weapons and gun makers who were only selling to make a "profit..."
He was literally going down the liberal anti gun line... then when a few callers took him to task on it he talked over them and hung up.
Then there was O' Reilly on Fox who started off with a good talking point, but then started whipping on the stuttering 2nd Amend foundation guy (Gottleib? .... not a good showing for him).
Neither so called conservative host voiced the affirmative uses of guns in contemporary times.
Its terrible to see the so called conservative voices folding under pressure...but to see them turn on a core values such as gun ownership does not bode well.
I hope others see more positive representations out there but I am not seeing it.
It seems we need to remind these folks who pays their bills.
Thoughts?
I’ve never been able to stand Medved and O’Reilly is the biggest douchebag on the planet.
Not surprised.
Well at least not many of us on this forum have caved on this issue. That seems like one issue we can unite on in this forum?
The media manipulates these conservative commentators as puppets and they don’t even know it. The media and democrats are exploiting the mass shootings to take away our individual rights and to empower government.
The media know they are egging on the next star, promising them fame and immortality if they will just try to top or match the current mass shooter.
The mainstream media causes these shootings.
These idiots or psychos shoot people for the fame the media will give them.
The media makes these shooters household names.
Our real friends are being identified.
Your first mistake is in assuming that Medved is a conservative.
Medved is NOT a conservative. He only masquarades as one on the radio. He is a RINO extroidinaire. I also heard this broadcast. He has always been timid with his support of the 2nd Amendment acting as if he really isn’t comfortable with it and now he has come out of the closet on this as with a few other issues.
The liberal left have so much anger they use all weapons at their disposal to bash their way to what they want. Gun Rights will now be the new race card against those with common sense.
Neither of the two ‘hosts’ you mentioned are conservatives. medved is a liberal masquerading as a conservative for a paycheck, and o’really is a megalomaniac with no core conservative principals.
O reilly is a liberal wad. Can’t stand him, never could. Big talk, nothing else. But please buy his mugs and t- shirts. haha
I've come to the sad conclusion that most of the public figures on the "Conservative" side, are not my real friends at all.
David Brooks?
Bill O'Reilly?
Joe Scarborough?
Michael Medved?
Jim Boehner?
The list goes on and on. The schools are against us. The media is against us. The Democrats are against us. And an awful lot of high-profile Republicans are against us.
My real friends? Darn few these days.
Do these guys do their shows behind guards who are armed?
>>Ive never been able to stand Medved and OReilly is the biggest douchebag on the planet.<<
Rush was right when he called O’Reilly “Ted Baxter.”
“and the irony was, he was a VEGETARIAN!”
You think Medved and O’Reilly are conservatives?
pissed off because their taxes are going up?
these are effete elites who don’t like armed serfs or competing nobles.
It is NYC mindset disease.
They are rarely clear thinkers.
The response to this nonsense is very simple:
"It breaks my heart that an evil lunatic shattered your family and murdered your loved ones.
"I respect your deep grief.
"Is it just, then, to demand that I should now forfeit my right to protect my loved ones and leave them defenseless against the next evil lunatic?
"I am very sorry for your loss, but that is not justice."
It’s because they aren’t conservatives.
Listen to Mark Levin. He is all you need.
Add Bill Bennett to the list. God Bless Mark Levin, but the other day I sortof cringed when he said if his items were confiscated, he would “sue”. I’m sorry Mark, but when that starts happening, effecting anything via the courts is long past a reality.
There are no conservative talk radio hosts..
only republican party hacks...
remember when OReily faked his “fight” with michael moore going onto his show? Once a tabloid reader always a tabloid reader.
ObaMugabe has used Newtown to unleash his cultural revolution and Red Guard to terrorize opponents. Extracting public confession to wrongful thinking was a common punishment.
That’s what we’re seeing.
I have, on my Facebook page...and granted...thats only a few hundred people...but it's my circle, begun an in-earnest education campaign about the 2nd.
Every chance I get I remind people: The 2nd is NOT for hunting. The 2nd is not for home or self protection. The 2nd exists to back up the 1st. The 1st amendment is there, not to allow you to make porn movies or so you don't have to look at the 10 Commandments posted in front of the Court House...but to voice concerns when the government goes beyond it's authority. The 2nd is there for when the government attempts to prohibit the 1st.
ALL of the Bill of Rights are aimed DIRECTLY at limiting Federal Power and empowering the individual. If we would teach this to our children, like we used to, we would be much better off.
the Media Mob is dragging the shoting victim leftists out to speak for gun control since the NRA has officially surrendered.
The abolishment of the 2nd Amendment will bring civil war to this country.
Medved is no conservative. He’s a RINO at best.
The irony of losing their 1st Amendment rights by relinquishing our 2nd Amendment rights is lost on the likes of Medved and O’Reilly.
Well, actually the good news for both O’Reilly and Medved, is that they at least moved more to the right in their lifetimes. They could have both stayed pure liberal. Don’t trust either of them to be anything resembling a true conservative, because they aren’t, but I’d rather have them as sometime political friends than 100 percent political enemies. You don’t always get perfection.
Just be aware that on some things both are perfectly capable of turning on us at times, because they really aren’t conservatives. My question is, how is it that some conservative people haven’t figured these two out a long time ago. It’s so obvious that they are RINO’s at best, or moderates in the pure sense of the word. Some things are self evident.
My biggest issue with O’Reilly is that he constantly interrupts people and talks over them. I consider that incredibly rude.
As a matter of fact I hate it so much I think people guilty of it should be shot by firing squad.
Clearly Michael Medved does not own guns and does not understand that “assault weapon” is a thoroughly phony PR phrase that means nothing. Likewise Jim Boeheim, the Syracuse coach who won his 900th. game yesterday, made some similar statement which indicates he just doesn’t know jack about guns.
Medved does an interesting show, but he always hewes very closely to the far left edge of Conservatism.
O’Reilly is NOT a conservative, he’s a statist.
Yep. There was a thread here yesterday about Bill Bennett advocating gund control.
Sad. Bennett is one of my political heroes.
Krauthammer was mewling on the same subject last night. But at least he admitted that gun control was not gonna happen in his lifetime.
Is it possible that the famous neoconservatives are moving back towards liberalism?
Krauthammer is right on that. I suspect the Dems overreaching on this is going to be the thing that allows the GOP to keep the House in 2014.
O’Reilly is a moron. Last night he said he was a “2nd Amendment guy”, proceeded to get different guns confused and embarrassed himself, and excused it by then saying, “I’m not a gun guy.” He said we need to sacrifice for the kids and tighten the gun laws.
This morning, Gretchen Carlson on Fox & Friends said she just doesn’t understand why anyone “needs” to own an assault rifle.
It’s like an avalanche now, and these fools don’t see anything wrong with the fact that they are agreeing with Communist China on gun control in America. All of this is a purely emotional response, and I for one am getting sick of it. When I heard that Dick’s Sporting Goods in Newtown had removed their guns, I turned off the TV before my head could explode. What——now the people in CT will be traumatized by the mere sight of a gun?
He also wrote a book about Hollywood's descent into cruelty and sexuality. It was very good. I forget its title.
And I was somewhat amused to read that gun sales are now through the roof. Every time some lib advocates for gun control, Americans run to the gun stores!
medved is no conservative. He was an avid supporter of RINOs in 2008 and I haven’t seen any change in him since then. I recall him and Hugh Hewitt another RINO lover, were on the Romeny bandwagon in 2008 and most likely also in 2012.
In many cases, they literally don't know anybody who owns a gun and often the only time they've ever seen one is when they bump into a cop on the subway. In short, they fear what is unfamiliar to them, and living as they do in crowded urban environments filled with unusually large numbers of aggressive people, they tend assume the worst about human intentionality.
If I had to base my opinion of humanity on the people I rode the train with in the city every day, I wouldn't trust people much, either. That's a big reason why I left city life behind 25 years ago, and never looked back. It's much nicer here in the country - along with my family, good neighbors... and my guns, too.
I stopped listening to Medved a long time ago when he treated callers opposing illegal immigration the same way he treated 2nd ammendment callers. Someone who is pro illegal immigration and anti 2nd ammendment is not conservative in my book.
I agree. another one is/was””I am a Christian and Democrat.” Both are kinda like a German in the 1930s saying,”I am a member of the National Socialists Workers Party, I also support Adolph Hitler, but I really and truly love the Jews.”
Re your post #10, yes, you are correct. None of us who are real conservatives have much in the way of friends nowadays. The American public, if it was truly informed, would support us, but they remain low-information people.
The future does look bleak.
