I bought a HiPoint once. As a gun to practice disassembly and powder coating. (has a nice desert digital camo pattern now) Not to shoot with.

You get what you pay for.

The main thing about the Hi-Power to me is that it fits my hand better than any I have ever held except maybe a CZ, and I have always hit better with the Browning than other guns.

Amen, brother. I preach the Hi-Power gospel myself, and own five of them, including two of the alloy-framed versions and a 1943 model that was made under Nazi occupation. I took that one to the range for an enjoyable lunchtime outing today. :)

The alloy-framed Hi-Powers weigh about an ounce less than my Glock 23 but carry so much easier.

And the Sig 1911’s are a good step above today’s Kimber’s........

But Wilson Combat’s are still the best...........

I prefer my Ruger SR1911 - S/S - all made in USA. Available for $700 - $800.

I would sell my left nut .... You can't sell the left nut. Not since the Thirteenth Amendment was ratified.

The one thing I do not like about the Smith 1911 is the use of an external extractor. Star proved many years ago that and external extractor works just as well but it doesn’t look as clean with the cut in the slide.

John Browning did it the right way and I see no reason to change it. Browning’s system is simpler with a single part also acting as spring. Browning’s design does require the part be made and heat treated properly but so what?

Hi,

FYI. I have been in the USMC for 6 years and the Chicago Police Dept 4 years. Anyway, the Kimber has a Les Brown barrel installed by a gunsmith in Milwaukee. I was having trouble with the gun (new) and after two trips to Kimber (said nothing was wrong), Gander Mountain sent it to the Milw gunsmith. When he looked over the gun, he called to tell me that the barrel had rippling in it. He replaced it with an Ed Brown barrel (free). Also fixed the rear site which was moving. Shoots good now.

Also have a Springfield XDM 9 that I sent to Springer Precision for custom work. $400 later and that dog can hunt. Get 2” offhand groups at 21ft.

I guess I just like the looks of the SW. Haven’t held it yet. But would like to check it out.

Been shooting years and love the range. Both indoor in the shit state of Illinois, but outdoor at Bush Wildlife in St. Louis. Probably shoot twice a month.

Thanks all for you incite. I can sure use it and will continue to check this out. I will be out of town for two weeks for Christmas and will respond to folks that ask about the Kimber.

Thanks again and Merry Christmas to all

Swen
