Golden Eagle Snatches Kid (Video)
You Tube ^ | December 18, 2012 | MrNuclearCat

Caught on video. Bird of prey tries to snatch toddler. Bird gets in the air for a little bit with child but releases. I guess this is real. Looks it to me. Bad enough to happen to a pet, but holy cow, what if it got higher in the air and released or didn't release! Wow.

It most-certainly is real: one now-extinct South African Eagle species carried Neolithic children to their nests. A bear cub was once carried off in front of Swedish Park Ranger team. (And the Golden Eagle is the US' largest Eagle—or, at least, our heaviest.)

The slow-motion begins at 0:30, with the cry from a Redtail Hawk!

Well I know I’ve seen videos of birds of prey on YouTube carrying off goats and lambs. And this certainly looks real. That baby had a guardian angel that day...thank goodness.

Goodness! Well the golden does like a diet of small mammals!

I thought from the title The *kid* would be a goat from this classic video. [Do NOT watch this vid if you are squeamish]

That is an amazing photo!

Reminds me of a site I watched for awhile in rural New Jersey. Three large turkey buzzards were snacking on a woodchuck when I came across them. I watched as they picked away at it. Then they suddenly hopped/flew about 20’ away. Then I saw it, a hawk of some sort. He grabbed some meat and went back to his perch on a utility pole. And the buzzards went back to picking away at the woodchuck.

But every time that little guy spread his wings to come down, those buzzards were real quick to hop away. The hawk was probably one-tenth the size of the buzzards!

On the posted link to the story above...there's a vid of a golden harassing a grizzly. Pretty cool.

I'd say goldens get a *bad-ass* award...they seem to have no fear.

Wow, what are the odds of that happening? A guy standing in a park with a video camera recording an eagle flying up above then the eagle swoops down and picks up a baby that's just sitting on the ground about 15 yards from the parent. It could happen I guess...

However, I'm more inclined to believe it was all staged by a falconer, his buddy and a lure made to look like a baby........

Oh I’ve seen that video. Terrible. Baby goats—such sweet faces. Nature is so brutal.
