Obama speaking now on gun-banning
Fox News Channel (no link) | 12/19/12

Posted on 12/19/2012 9:16:33 AM PST by pabianice

Obama speaking now on TV...

"The vast majority of responsible gun owners support a ban on assault rifles and large capacity magazines..."

"I will use all the powers of my office to do what needs to be done to reduce gun violence..."

He's putting Biden in charge of a get-together of interested parties to come up with something to be presented to Congress in January. Realizes that part of the problem is "social."

"Questions?"

Question from reporter on the fiscal mess...

Never was a “civil war” in this country.
There was an attempt at war for independence II, which was lost.

They could avoid the whole messy war business and let some states secede peacefully.

0bama wants to be Lincoln. He wants another “Civil War”.

And he knows this how? Oh yeah, say a lie enough times to the sheeple and it becomes the truth.

The most recent numbers of dead in the Civil War are 720,000.

I think the later number is very, very close.

“Last time there was a Civil War in this country, 600,000 people died.”

I seem to recall that this number was approximately half the population of the country at that time. Do you know if that is true? It might be half of the male population, I’m not sure.

If it is, let’s put it in perspective. If that happens now, we are probably talking about 50-100 million people dying....

Population in 1862 was about 31 million. It would equal one in 60 dead, or somewhere around 5 million today.

I would hate to see that much death and destruction in our fair land. It was a heartbreaker then, it would be a heartbreaker today.

The left just needs to leave our human rights alone.

A few days after the tragic Sandy Hook school murders, a young Marine in fatigues stationed himself at the front entrance of the Nashville elementary school his two children attend. Another parent heard him admit to a reporter that he was unarmed. The other parent commented that, even though the young Marine standing guard was not armed, it made him “feel better” to know he was there.

It’s often been observed that “perception is more important than reality”. The observation is often correct. It is never MORE CORRECT than for those we’ve come to call “liberals”. I prefer “statist” but “liberal” has morphed from its classic meaning to the other end of the spectrum so I’ll stay with it.

Since these folks operate almost entirely on EMOTION and FEELING, REALITY seldom allows FACTS to intrude upon the delusional worldview they have constructed and the comfort that provides them. It is that illogical, irrational and delusional mindset that prompts many of them to continue to quest after a Utopian society. The thought that such a society can and will never be achieved in a fallen world populated with failed sinners never penetrates whatever remains of their cognitive consciousness. It’s a DANGEROUS WORLD and, as the liberals continue to “define deviancy down”, it becomes more dangerous daily.

There is another, far more sinister, level of the “liberal” call for gun control.

It was Mencken who offered that “The urge to save humanity is most often a false front for the URGE TO RULE.” He clearly had been a student of the liberal politicians of his day. Were he alive today and able to observe the likes of Chuck Schumer, Diane Feinstein, Obama and the rest, he’d almost certainly have used far stronger language to frame his sage observation.

To conclude, dozens of studies reveal the FACTS concerning gun control. Those FACTS are that where firearms are widely and READILY available to law-abiding citizens, CRIME GOES DOWN! The liberals who willfully ignore the FACTUAL EVIDENCE and continue to call for gun control (i.e. the DISARMING of DECENT CITIZENS, thereby denying them the ability to exercise their God-given right to self-defense) are those about whom Mencken wrote: Their goal is NOT about preserving life. It is about the hell-bent pursuit of the impossible to achieve Utopian world where all are equal but some (that’d be THEM) are MORE equal than others (that’d be US).

There are many PRO-RTKABA videos on You Tube that your often busy lives don’t allow you to find on your own. Search there for “Gun Control”, watch them – and, more importantly – SHARE THEM with the folks in your orbit.

We’re in a fight. And losing will ultimately cost us much more than our right to our guns.

BE CAREFUL! Back in 1968, the murder of Bobby Kennedy was an anti-gunner’s wet dream come true.

Bobby Kennedy was killed with a small American made .22 revolver, an Iver Johnson Cadet.

John Kennedy was killed in 1963 with a 5 shot bolt action military surplus rifle. Italian Carcano.

When the 1968 gun control act passed,(due to the passing out of huge amounts of cash to the states for “crime control”), it banned what the antis have been dreaming of for years.

A ban on 5 shot bolt action army surplus rifles.
A ban on small foreign pistols and revolvers.
A ban on military equipment. A gun shop in Tulsa was raided because they imported flintlock flints.

All of this did not ban the pistol used to kill Bobby, and it did nothing to ban foreign police surplus rifles which were the same as military rifles, just not issued to the army.

Congressmen from CT, Mass and NY had wanted a ban on military surplus to protect their local industries like COLT, S&W, Savage and Winchester.

Why should an American buy a $12.00 army rifle to hunt with when they should be buying a high dollar American made hunting rifle!

And why should they be buying a military Army surplus Enfield or Webley pistol when they should be buying a high dollar US made handgun?

The devil is in the details so be real careful with this as the antis today are far worse than the antis of the 1960s.

What exactly does Barry mean by that statement? Can this jerk do/say ANYTHING without putting citizens against each other? Going for the ‘Most Divisive President Ever’ award?

Yeah Barry, in the part of the country I live in a lot of us do have guns. We’re ready to defend ourselves and our families. We manage to get by each day without going on a violent rampage. We manage to own our weapons responsibly. Molon Labe Ahole.

Here’s a thought- Let’s make it illegal to carry a gun onto school property, and let’s make it illegal to murder people, and let’s have really really strict gun control laws like they have in Chicago, and let’s make sure law abiding citizens are not allowed to own guns like they are in Chicago for the most part- and let’s make the laws so hard to own guns that people don’t even bother trying to get guns anymore like in LA and areas around California- that will surely put a stop all these gun killings- woops- no it won’t- they ONLY thing it does is make law abiding citizens a target of CRIMINALS whop WILL squire guns no matter what- just like they do in states where it’s impossible for honest folks to get guns to protect themselves- For those crying for gun control- I would encourage you folks to walk down some back alleys in places like LA, Chicago, NY to get a first hand look at just how well unassuming law abiding citizens really works- Flash around lots of money as you’re walking those back alleys too- after all, gun laws will make you perfectly safe and you won’t ever have to worry about criminals obtaining guns, right? Oh yeah- and people are still being murdered BY GUNS in those countries that outlawed guns- the only difference now is that those people being murdered have absolutely NO way to defend themselves!!!

For those claiming places thta outlaw guns don’t have gun crimes- bull:

http://townhall.com/tipsheet/katiepavlich/2012/12/11/gun-crime-soars-in-england-where-guns-are-banned-n1464528

“The Government’s latest crime figures were condemned as “truly terrible” by the Tories today as it emerged that gun crime in England and Wales soared by 35% last year.

Criminals used handguns in 46% more offences, Home Office statistics revealed.

Firearms were used in 9,974 recorded crimes in the 12 months to last April, up from 7,362.

It was the fourth consecutive year to see a rise and there were more than 2,200 more gun crimes last year than the previous peak in 1993.”

And what weapons were part of Fast & Furious, which 0bama and Holder knew of by March, 2009?

“Weapons purchased during the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives‘ controversial “Fast and Furious” undercover investigation, which included the sale to “straw buyers” of hundreds of AK-47 assault rifles, have turned up at a dozen violent crime scenes across the Southwest, the Justice Department told a Senate committee.”

“May 18, 2011

Obama: “I’m working on gun control under the radar”

Plans include enacting restrictions via executive order, bypassing Congress

by Jack Minor

While the Obama administration said it is committed to gun rights, a gun control advocate has spilled the beans, saying Obama is using stealth to work on firearms restrictions.

The Washington Post did a story on Steve Croley, the White House gun control czar. Croley is considered to be an expert on regulation and tort law. His approach to gun control appears to be a regulatory one.

According to the article, Jim and Sarah Brady visited Capital Hill on March 30, the 30th anniversary of the assassination attempt on Ronald Reagan; to push for a ban on “large magazines.”

The couple reportedly were meeting with press secretary, Jay Carney, when, according to Sarah Brady, the President came in. She said the President told her he wanted to talk about gun control and “fill us in that it was very much on his agenda.”

She went on to say Obama told her, “I just want you to know that we are working on it. We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar.”

The statement reinforces an article in the Huffington Post describing how the administration is exploring ways to bypass Congress and enact gun control through executive action.”
