The first instinct of all who learned of the latest copycat school massacre was to pray for the victims and their grieving families and friends, to pray for the soul of their murderer, and above all to pray with heartfelt thanks for the bravery of the gallant teachers whose instinct was to throw themselves into the line of fire in the hope of protecting their innocent charges from harm.
While your nation brings forth people of that caliber, of that moral fiber, of that instinctual, immediate courage, even in this dark hour there is real hope for the future of America.

I'm not sure I like his solution, but it's an interesting idea...
The leader of the Hutaree “militia” who was arrested and acquitted was elected to the unpaid constable position in his hometown in November.
I'd sign up in a heart-beat.
"They've" been persecuting and prosecuting innocent civilians on various and sundry gun and conspiracy "violations" for years, when all they want to know is "who is the militia and what are their motives" ?
Essentially I see it as no more than an effort to protect their jobs .. job security, so to speak, violent union member beatin' up on a non-union worker trying to make a living and feed his family.
With o'zero's 70 something percent increase in government workers, it's inevitable there could be an "us VS them" scenerio that may or may not be deadly.
I think it would certainly be violent.
Governors and sheriffs would do well to protect their territory from federal invasion by having at the ready a truly well regulated militia.
Train them, certify them and put them to work and make the US a safer place.
The school district that my children attend has a program at the elementary school level called Watchdogs. It is group on volunteer dads who spend a day or two a month in thier childrens school. They do basic helping and act in an informal surveilance capacity, with the intend of reducing bullying.
With appropriate training, this idea could be taken a step further with ARMED parents who provide first level security. I know many of the dads who I participated with were CCW holders and hunters, and would be a formidable obsticle for any would-be bad guy.
The national guard is not the current militia as specified in the Constitution.
Can’t halt massacres until they happen. How do you prevent something like what happened in CT?
You can’t prevent massacres from being attempted, but a properly trained person could halt the kind of thing that just happened. Two or three dead instead of 28.
Can’t put a militia in every school but you can arm teachers and staff. Sorry state of affairs when you have to do that, but on the other hand ... somehow the media has forgotten about the 400+ kids killed in Chicago during the year.
You're a legally carrying, firearms trained adult
You're in a school as (whatever) and you hear shots
You follow your ears, surmise the situation and shoot the shooter.
It's a better plan than calling first responders 5 minutes away, that take 20 to arrive and stand around after they arrive.
Lord Monckton is thinking along the right lines but is misinformed about certain specifics.
First of all, the right to keep and bear arms is an individual right, not one dependent upon being part of a Militia.
Secondly, the Militias are the Armed Forces of the Several States under the command of their respective Governors and subject to being called up for Federal Service.
Third, the Militias are composed of the entire able-bodied adult male citizenship of each State.
Fourth, the organized portion of each Militia is what is currently designated the National Guard.
Fifth, the unorganized portion of each State's Militia are the remainder of the able-bodied adult male citizenship of each State subject to call to duty by each State's Governor.
Sixth, every State has the right to form additional Armed Forces under the command of the Governor, generally referred to as State's Guard, which are not subject to Federal Service.
Seventh, land-grant colleges used to be obligated to train male students in Military Science for service to the States in their Militias and Federal Service when called-up.
Eighth, all Militiamen were expected to maintain their own arms and proficiency for use when called-up for service.
Though Lord Monckton is thinking well, our Founding Fathers had already out-thought him. They enshrined the right to keep and bear arms as an individual right being a basis of freedom. And they codified the Militia structure from that for free citizens to defend freedom. What we have gotten away from is using that structure.
Because United States citizens are free, not subjects, and their right to keep and bear arms is an individual right, I instead propose that; States return to a program of actively training their Militias and State Guards. and, that those trained/qualified in the unorganized Militia & State Guards receive additional privileges.
These privileges can include but not be limited to; basic issue of standard infantry weapon, basic allowance of ammunition, limited reserve law enforcement credentials, exemption from all carry restrictions within the State, National CCW, free or reimbursed firing range training, unique vehicle license plates, preferential hunting licensing.
Finally, I propose that should the above provisions be adopted, members of the Unorganized Militias and State Guard be routinely called up for service in the same fashion as for jury duty. Because it is both a responsibility and a duty that We The People have too long shirked.
You have to remember though, right now schools are a gun free zone in addition you can’t be less than 1200 feet from a school with a gun; meaning that if you’re driving past a school on the way to, say, a gun range then you’re violating the law. Gots to get rid of those zones first.
What a great story! Do you have a link?
You have the right idea, but when the revised Gun Free School Zone act was passed in 1996 (just before the school shootings really took off) it included an exemption for people with permits.
Schools can allow people with permits in the schools now if they chose to do so, and there are no state impediments.
Repealing the Gun Free School Zone Act might be enough to stop these shootings, as they only really started after it was passed.
But I don’t think those lib bozo’s realize what they’ve done when they created those zones. When I’m home (work in Australia) I always carry. I don’t care if there’s a sign or not.
