In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

apopemptic \ap-uh-PEMP-tik\, adjective
1. Pertaining to leave-taking or departing; valedictory.
noun:
1. Obsolete. A farewell address; valedictory.

Example sentences:
The others followed suit and, politely apopemptic, vanished into the night.
-- Sōseki Natsume, Aiko Ito, Graeme Wilson, I Am a Cat

Only to the fool who believes all truths debatable, who believes true virtue resides not in men but in eulogies, true sorrow not in partings but in apopemptic hymns…
-- John Gardner, Jason and Medeia

Etymology:
Rising to prominence in the middle 1700s, apopemptic derives from the Greek apopemptikós, pertaining to 'sending away.'

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Rise and shine, but no hurry. I’m up due to a stressed-out dog who hates storms.

By tomorrow afternoon, the dang white stuff will come down...several inches are expected...I am thinking it’s too warm to last long. I was out in a sweater yesterday and not a coat.

I opened the door to let mine out this AM, and he looked at the ice falling and stared at me, as if to say, “You’ve got to be kidding. I didn’t just fall off the turnip truck, and I’m not going out there.” And he turned around and went back to his bed.

Apopemptic

Technical name for citrate of magnesia. It's fizzy and sweet like soda pop and it's definitely emptic, bolt of lightening emptic. Apopemptic.

What galls me is how the State Department and the MSM are coming down on John Bolton for speaking the truth.

Yes, it’s time for that first real snow of the year. Rain starts later today, turning to snow around midnight. 1-3 inches by Saturday.

We have another fierce line of storms headed this way in about an hour. It’s a treadmill day.

I think his second wife, the former nun, played a major role in revealing God’s presence to him. If he had served on the court, I would have hated to see who the big zero would have chosen to replace him. A+ for you.

Perhaps he would have retired during GWB.

Also, we have to hope that the man who took that seat, Anthony Kennedy, hangs on for four more years, Scalia too.
