Tim Tebow breakup: All alone again after split with Camilla Belle
The Los Angeles Times ^ | Thursday, December 20, 2012

This has not been the best week for New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow.

First, on Wednesday, Jets Coach Rex Ryan says Greg McElroy will replace Mark Sanchez as the Jets' starter, leaving Tebow on the bench.

Then, on Thursday, US Weekly reports that Tebow has broken up with actress Camilla Belle after two months of dating.

Belle is famous for starring in "From Prada to Nada" and "Dirty Dancing 3." And when I say famous, I mean "been in movies no one has ever heard of or watched."

US Weekly says the breakup came because "the relationship just didn't work out."

Much like his relationship with the Jets.

Tebow’s not exactly the scraggly 4 eyed wimpy geek who can’t get a girlfriend. Dude’s a chick magnet—lets just hope he magnetizes the right one for him.

The question of the day: Is Tim Tebow a Virgin?

I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale to people who believe he is.

I heard someone on radio this morning blaming Tebow for the Jets’ bad season, even as they refuse to play him. What the hell?

I think that the reasoning behind that is that for what they're paying Tim they could get two above average offensive linemen, who would be of more value than Tim on the bench.

What was that Bible verse about not being unequally yoked with unbelievers?

Disclosure: I know nothing about this actress; she may be a believer, maybe even a Born-Again one. But given the nature of that industry, it is unlikely.

If Ryan isn’t dispatched by the Jets at the end of the season, then they will deserve the mediocrity that will follow.

Not only is the girlfriend from UF not guilty, she could raise taxes and no one would mind.

No, it even weirder than that. Tebow brings bad mojo for the starting QB of whatever team he’s on. It’s really insane. Why can’t one perennial basement dwelling team just give him a shot?

Bad mojo as in exposing the current starters as piss poor leaders next to him? Yeah, I can see that.

Based on interviews I've read of his former UF teammates who now play in the NFL, they've said they believe he should be a starting QB in the NFL.

If I remember correctly, Denver's OL last year allowed Tebow to be sacked something like 3 times per game. Tebow also never could get run consistency last year. Yes, sometimes he popped a 20 yarder but so many more times he was lucky to get a yard... on 3rd down when they needed 2. Then there was the relatively high number of dropped passes by Denver receivers.

Tebow's pass completion percentage could have been better at Denver but it wasn't alarming. It's not as if he was throwing wildly resulting in a high pick percentage. He seemed to be intentionally throwing too far ahead of receivers in order to avoid being picked off. That wasn't a bad thing in that over another season or two he could steadily bring the balls in closer to his receivers as he gained confidence.

This year, in the first five games of regular season, the same Denver OL allowed Peyton Manning to be sacked 3 times per game and the result was a 2-3 record with fans beginning to murmur about the wisdom of bringing in Manning.

Since Denver's 2-3 start this season, some adjustment was made with the Broncos' OL whereby Manning has been given much better protection (I think they subsequently had a 5 game win streak with only 1 sack total)and Manning has been able to play like the Manning of the Colts.

I don't know what has been going on in Jets practices but from the few games I've seen in which Tebow took snaps this season, there has never been much in the way of rushing opportunity for him. As at Denver, he has receivers with hard hands but the total number of pass attempts has been too low to measure any QB's performance.

He runs like a fullback, blocks like a fullback, and throws like a fullback. Line him up at fullback.

I think he’s a good quarterback. Leadership and inspiration is certainly a big part of being a good quarterback, and he has them in spades. He’s also a “double-threat” (pass-run) which is helpful not only when it’s planned but also when it’s not. From what I’ve seen, he doesn’t have that Elway type of arm, where he can toss it 30 and 40 yards down the field with a perfect spiral and pinpoint accuracy, but neither do a lot of other QB’s who are starting in the NFL. Give him a freakin’ chance!
