FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS (KMOX) - An East St. Louis couple is charged with beating an elderly employee at a Metro East Best Buy.
Its considered normal procedure by most to be asked for your receipt while leaving a busy store like Best Buy with expensive items. But Latoya Greenwood, 38, didnt take kindly to the request.
Police say she began shouting obscenities at the 61-year-old Fairview Heights Best Buy employee at the exit door. Her husband got into the act and smacked the man across the face, sending him down to the ground while his wife didnt flinch and kept the curse words flying.
The husband, 39-year-old Hickey Thompson, is charged with felony aggravated battery and is held on $20,000 bond. Greenwood is charged with disorderly conduct.
As for the 61-year-old victim, he was treated at the store and declined to go to the hospital.

This couple did not realize you have to get your Obama phone thru
the government, not just walk out with it at Best Buy.

61 is not elderly. I'm not far from that and any uppity kid that slaps me will find that you accumulate a lot of dirty tricks in five decades.

As a contractor, I hate and stay away from east St Louis, Now I have 3 jobs over there from a good general, WTF people get killed over there for no reason daily, and it makes less news than Chicago. Now they are highlighting a beating and it makes national news.
The media is so sad and pathetic!

A former metro-east football star was charged with aggravated battery, a class 3 felony, Thursday by the St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office following an incident at Best Buy in Fairview Heights. According to police, Hickey D. Thompson, who earned a mention in Sports Illustrated as the star of Althoff Catholic High School's football teams that won back-to-back state championships in 1989 and 1990, allegedly hit a Best Buy employee in the face during an altercation at about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday. The employee was identified in court records as Gary Thompson.
Hickey Thompson's companion, Latoya N. Greenwood, an East St. Louis councilwoman, was issued a ticket for disorderly conduct, a class C misdemeanor. Greenwood works at East St. Louis School District 189.

And the withc probably gave the “don’t you know who I am” line.
I have heard the line used in sarcasm. The first time I heard it used in earnest was in liberal Minnesota. First by a city councilbitch when she hit my car in the rear at a red light, and multiple times by a VP of a major control systems manufacturer. Both were libs.

I told my husband, sister, and brother in law this story today. They are all 61. I don’t consider them elderly.

What they bdid was wrong... no doubt they should serve jail time....
But best Buy is also wrong....
They treat you like a criminal when you leave their store demanding to inspect your bag and receipt.
My wife hates going with me to Best Buy to shop, I always refuse to let them look in my bag. Once I pay for the merchandise and their employee places it in a bag, it’s my personal property. They have no rights...
I always tell the guy at the door if he shows me his drivers license and pays me $10 dollars he can peek...
Otherwise, NO.....

Bull. If you don't check out at the front of the store they have every right to check to make sure you have a receipt.
