Week 17: NFL Game Picks
Yahoo ^ | December 24, 2012

Five NFC teams are fighting for two postseason spots, and the race for first-round byes in the AFC remains convoluted.

The Cowboys lost, but the Giants' loss later sets up a winner-take-all Cowboys-Redskins game on Sunday night for the NFC East title.

The Vikings remained in the No. 6 slot in the NFC but also were big winners, as the Giants and Cowboys' losses mean Minnesota doesn't require help to make the postseason.

I’m a Bengals fan, but I don’t see it being that interesting in that it is essentially meaningless. The Ravens have won the division, and the Bengals are the 5th seed no matter what.

10 a.m. football is great over here! The really killer thing though is the 6 p.m. MNF.

Oops. I meant 6th seed no matter what. The Colts are 5th.

Indy is the 5 seed, not the Bengals. I thought I had read that ravens/bengals colts/texans were inconsequential to the seedings. Colts #5, no matter what, playing in Baltimore.

No way does this Ravens fan want to play any of our divisional rivals 2 weeks in a row.

It is unlikely that Baltimore will move up to the #3 seed, but it is possible, in which case it would be Cincy at Baltimore.

I can’t ever remember a final week situation like the top of the AFC — three teams that have clinched their divisions, but none of which is guaranteed a first-round bye yet, all coming down to results in week #17.

The NFC, of course, still has the drama at the bottom over who makes it into the #4 and #6 spots, culminating in a great Sunday night finisher where the Redskins will triumph over the Cowboys (team motto: brilliant in September, miserable in December, golfing in January).

Third time in five years, the Cowboys will go into the final game of the season knowing that if they win, they win the division, and if they lose, they’re out of the playoffs, so far they are 0 for 2....I predict it will be 0 for 3.

When the Packers beat Houston 42-24 on Oct. 4th??? LOL. Exposed what? The Packers racked up 427 yards on Houston!

As a long time Denver Bronco season ticket holder I always look forward to late season NFL games. This weekend there are two games I'm especially interested in Houston @ Indy, Ravens @ Bengals ... these should be great games. Broncos should win over KC in Denver ... however, in the NFL there are no guarantees. Denver has the AFC West locked up and a postseason bye ... so not a great deal at stake win or lose.

Agreed, Ravens in the 4 hole and that’s where they’ll stay.

In which game did the five or six sacks happen on the GB QB? i was remembering it as the Houston game. Might it have been the Seattle game which the refsdonated?

PATS have tiebreaker over DEN, so DEN loss could mean a #3 seed. Here is our tiebreaker thread:

Aaron has been sacked 47 times this season. 5 against the Giants in a loss. 7 in the first Bears matchup. 8 vs. Seattle. Against Chicago the second time it was 3. Quite improved in my opinion. Btw, against Houston he was sacked just twice.

Probably thinking of the Seattle game, which was a win actually but was stolen on that awful call. They should be 12-3 at this point and have won 9 of the last 10 games. Only Denver has done better the last 10 games.

CBS-Hartford-3 just posted that they are carrying the HOUS-INDY game at 1pm, not the JETS. (which is unusual) This is good news, that we won’t have the Jets game. Looks like NYJ is only carried in NY.

So in New England area we get
1pm CBS HOUS-INDY
1pm FOX NYG-PHIL
4pm CBS PATS-MIA
4pm FOX GB-MINN likely

It looks like most of the country gets GreenBay-Minn, with home areas getting AZ-SF and STL-SEA

THANK GOD!!!

I refuse to watch Jets, Giants or Cowboys games, period. Enough of the networks pumping up bad-to-mediocre teams.

HOU-INDY should be good...too bad we won’t get AZ-SF. STL-SEA should be good, too.
