In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of Word for the Day.
reconditely - adv.; reconditeness - n.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

Class is in session! The fiscal cliff is looming. Homework on my desk. I should be around today for the long haul.
OK, Ti, class doesn’t want to catch my sinus infection or something.......back to my sick bed.
When someone on parole is arrested for a crime and sent back to jail they are a re con dite.
The fiscal economics are recondite
And Obama loves a fiscal war to fight
To blame the other party
And laugh, loud and hearty
The last laugh would be if we could indict
Hope you feel better !
if he would just concentrate on our enemies not US. this man never met a tax he didn’t like and he spends like a drunken sailor....a poor combination.
How are you doing??
I have more drugs, should get better soon. Today was the last day my doctor and NP are here, they retire after today. I will miss them. I guess I had to get sick to see them one last time. The good news is one of the new docs is an osteopathic doc who can adjust my back.
forgot to grade you. A+++
makes as much sense as anything else....A+++
I saw that, how cool. Turnabout is fair play. A++++
Well, we have not seen or heard from her in a while, so I guess the former recondirice est still missing in action.
It is telling that I do wonder who she voted for in the election: was she a racist sellout like “general” Powell, or did she vote her conscience?
As I read “The Gulag Archipelago”, I am reminded of the recondite, arcane language of some of our more recent legislation here in the USA.
LMAO took me a few minutes to realize what you said. the right side of my head is about to explode. I have to go get my drugs and rest. I have my bathrobe on over my clothing to keep warm. wonder what sHrillary is up to....she is still in hiding, isn’t she? I figured you meant her, then realized it was condi. I’m slow on the uptake today. A+++
A+++ just noticed your tagline. I love it. so true.
Why Thank You! :-)
For the past 3 days I have been plodding through an essay (actually Chapter 4 of a book called The Great Heresies) by Hilaire Belloc that I find recondite, but interesting. The subject is The Great and Enduring heresy of Mohammed. It purposts to trace the history of “Mohammadism” from its rise through present day. Since Belloc died in 1953 — “present day” is before a lot of the members of this class were born.
I am left wondering what Belloc would think today, since many of the gains of “Christondom” have slipped away in the last decade. I found this piece posted on Free Republic and printed it for reading and before I realized that it is 26 pages long.
And what is teacher’s reason for being late today? Is it a storm?
Neither his blatant deceit nor any truly worthwhile proposals put forth by the GOP will make any difference in this drama. The slavish lackeys in the Press certainly dont have to be enticed or pressured to fall in line; like vultures, theyve noticed Republicans are afraid of any negative coverage, and are ripe to have this debacle placed in their lap.
Not another storm, thank God. A sinus infection. Was unable to sleep last night, slept in this morning, then woke up realizing I had to hustle to make my doctor’s appointment. Was there forever. I came straight home to post the classroom. I just ran out for my antibiotics. I hope they work. My head is exploding with pain.
I believe we are headed towards Greece sooner than we think. A+++
Did you happen to catch the “what the heck is a Belk” bowl?
Duke was up 16-0 in the first quarter, then allowed Cincy 27 straight points.
They settled in on a 34 all tie and with under 2 minutes, Duke was inside Cincy’s 10 yard line.
They threw a graphic on the screen “Duke looking for first bowl win since 1960”.
Sure enough, they fumbled on the next play and faster than you can say “jinx” Cincy hit their tight end 20 yards downfield and he ran in for a touchdown.
I hope you get to feeling better-I think it is ridiculous that researchers whine for (and get) money to research idiocy like the effects of heavy lifting on rats or whatever, but no one seems able to research or find a remedy for a sinus infection like yours that comes back every winter-I guess there isn’t any money in it for the right people...
And frivolous research reminds me of a movie title from my youth-”The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds”, or something like that...
Why is the cause of national debt
A recondite matter to see
For many who claim intelligence,
But are less so than you and me
The facts fit into a sentence-
Just one, from beginning to end
When you owe far too much money
You do not continue to spend
If you tax workers more to give
More stuff to your new Roman mob
You can’t get blood from a turnip,
Because not many will have a job
I’m so sorry that you are not feeling well. When the classroom was not open (forever and ever) this AM, I assumed it had something to do with projected snow in the NE. After I wrote that, I saw that you were battling a sinus infection. I hope your medication has offered some relief by now.
I watched some of the game. I missed the end. Ain’t that always the way with jinxes though.
Yeah, the Steelers radio guy jinxed the kicker during the last game. “He hasn’t missed a FG from under 40 yards all season” right before he did so.
Normally one of the other radio guys will shush someone when they start saying things like that.
As close as I plan to get to homework can be read in my tagline, updated for this post:
We are headed there. A+++ Yeah, I wish the common cold had
a cure. It always starts with that.
I’m sorry you have another recondite sinus infection and hope you feel better soon.
The antibiotic is working, but I still feel lousy. Now we have another snowstorm dumping inches of snow on top of the last round. It’s a good time to hunker down in my pjs and watch that dang white stuff fall from the sky.
A local channel is doing a retro on SU football. Just saw Floyd Little being interviewed and the 32-31 win over WV. Can’t quite concentrate on it. My head still hurts.
Thank you for yesterday’s grade, and glad you are getting better-my hike this morning was a kindling mission, too-it was brisk, cloudy and 45, and plenty of broken small limbs on the ground from the recent winds...
I don’t see how any pharmaceutical concern wouldn’t rush to discover and patent something to cure a cold-if it were turned into an over-the-counter thing, they would likely make 100’s of $1000’s each day just from people not wanting to miss work, never mind those who develop other problems every time they catch one. I realize it would be in small bills, but so what-it all spends the same, doesn’t it?
On the absence of said cure, my favorite shortener for colds is Zicam, maybe some echinacea, and the Neti pot-that works for me.
Yeah, looks like we’ve got 3-4 inches of new snow since last night.
You’ve got to remember they already make lots of money selling Nyquil and other remedies for colds and flus.
And I’ve never heard of that type of pot, but smoking it will surely exacerbate a cough.
My cub gave me two pairs of those plaid flannel lounge pants-they look very comfy and warm-I have a couple of thermal knit tops that will go with them, too-I might wear those tonight while watching TV instead of my usual cold weather fleece lounger...
Neti pot-you fill it with saline for a sinus wash-it isn’t a bong...
You have a good point, since Nyquil and that other stuff aren’t remedies per se-they relieve symptoms of the cold or flu, but don’t do a thing to shorten or cure the malady. Based on that, the manufacturers of those “remedies” certainly wouldn’t want something on the market that would diminish the need for their products by the consumer.
Oh, I know, I was being droll.
If I ever tried to use one of those I would go on a sneezing jag lasting for days.
I also read where people used non-sterile water and essentially injected deadly parasites into their head.
It doesn’t make you sneeze-just clears the sinuses-and why do I think that the clueless users of Neti pots are people who will be holding lighted bottle rockets in their bare hands on New Years Eve?
You poor thing. We are watching the pinstripe bowl. Snowing there too. We had a bit earlier today but its stopped.
I started xsboy on zi-cam this AM, he has a sore throat and cold.
Hope your doc can put you right very soon!
I am roaring that resident doper soother thought neti pot was dope!!!
Droll? Is that what you are going for? ; )
Yes, it’s called “humor.” I know what a Neti pot is, how else would I have known about the idiots who gave themselves parasites using one.
Hey how about SU! Way to show up those evil Mountaineers.
