Govt constantly wants more money-they havent wisely spent what we already gave and they want more

I call on Congress to first be responsible with how they spend already. I am sick of them constantly demanding more of our money when they squander and waste the trillions they already extract from us.

TOPICS: Business/Economy
KEYWORDS: taxes; vanity
There is no end to their insatiable appetite for our money.

I think the first step is to make withholding optional instead of mandatory.

If we wrote checks for taxes every quarter, we would quickly see how much is being stolen before we even see what we’ve rightfully earned.

Economic sharecropping, is what the current system is.

I agree. The problem isn’t that they don’t have enough money but that they have too much.

Just yesterday, A school district near me announced that they had gotten a grant to buy iPads for all their kindergarteners. Last week it was a million dollars for a hiking trail across the neighboring county. The week before that, it was $100 million for an aquarium in Brazil.

While we complain about the big stuff, insane amounts of money are blown on thousands of other things. They may be drops in the bucket but there are enough of them to fill a supertanker.

Been obviously goin' on since the early sixties (which is as far back as I can remember this complaint).

Do ya have any new ideas to correct it?

Seems Paul is always OK with robbing Peter.

Yep. Drip, drip, drip...sooner or later we are drowning in it.

We expect every sane capable adult to achieve financial independence after a few decades of income.

After a couple centuries of vast income, the government should be financially independent too. Instead it has $16T debt.

Obviously we do need to deal with the entitlements but those are the most politically sensitive issues there are and as a result are the ones least likely to get cut. If they can’t cut the little things, there isn’t a chance in hell of them cutting the big ones.

My congressman asked for a $50 million cut in funding for the arts and got a $20 million cut. Meanwhile the left screams bloody murder over the fact that funding was cut back to the $125 million 2005 levels. They openly admit that Sesame Street funding is minimal but will fight tooth and nail to keep it.

I wish the GOP would learn to pit the democrat slaves against themselves. The opportunities are everywhere. We need to announce that food stamps will have to be cut so suburban middle class liberals won’t be forced to suffer without paved hiking trails. Tell them that we’re going to have to cut welfare because the endowment for the arts just can’t get by on the $125 million per year.

we work for them... pouring money into their pockets so they can retain power

i want to know... how do i quit?

i’ve already gone Galt, but i still have property in this country and am forced to continue paying if i make anything (compared to pre-2009, i make near nothing now, voluntarily)

i won’t pay them and i won’t support them. they are commies and fascists. we’ve fought wars against these people and their ideology... yet now i’m supposed to support them?? hell no

Why should any government care about the money of its citizenry?

It’s not theirs but can easily be appropriated and spent on projects without giving an account. Members know that, in spite of the grumblings of the voters, they will be re-elected time and time again.

When discussing the financial calamity of Europe & the U.S., it has been said:

Europe has the will, but not the way, and the U.S. has the way, but not the will.

We could more fully exploit our vast oil & gas reserves on Federal land. Royalties to Fed govt could be huge.

Sell our vast holdings of buildings & land that is not sensitive in nature, such as a Nat’l Park. (The U.S. owns 85% of the state of Nevada)

Make ruthless cuts to the Dept of Education, Dept of Energy, Amtrak,

Quit funding stupid studies that “only cost a few million”

Cut income taxes and cap gains - this has proven time and again to increase revenue to the fed govt

Repeal ObamaCare, spurring hiring, which increases revenue to govt and a subsequent drop in expenses such as unemployment ins, food stamps, etc.

Put Congress and Michelle on a budget for their expenses so they will get the idea we are serious about cutting spending.

You might add a few, too...

I'm going to use this technique on my liberal neighbors the next time they whine about their pet feel good subsidies getting cut and watch them squirm.

You might add a few, too...

Defund the EPA immediately, then repeal it entirely.

End all foreign aid.

End all UN contributions until the UN shuns all US declared terrorist organizations.

Defund the ICC until they agree to final review by SCOTUS.

Good suggestions.

EPA, foreign aid and UN are definitely areas to cut and slash and eliminate.

How about eliminate National Weather service, PBS, Davis-Bacon, and a 5%-10% cut to all other agencies.

I like cutting Congressional budgets for staff & perks just for the pycholigical effects of putting them on notice

How about eliminate National Weather service

They would be valuable if limited by law to weather prediction, no climate change theory. Additionally, anyone who submits fraudulent or falsified environmental data would do 20 years minimum.

PBS, NE Arts

Gone not a cent.

Davis-Bacon

Modified by: National Right To Work, Government employee unions outlawed, Right of small businessmen to form Employers Unions (sauce for goose), union members collectively responsible for tort judgments against union.

Glad you got that off your chest...with a vanity.

I'm sure Congress is listening/reading.

I like your tag line. Those mandatory ideas are a big part of the problem.

Can you name a few areas we could save a measly $500MM or maybe even $1B?

There is never any effort to cut a PBS or a research program since they are only $400 million or so...not even real money, right?

Yeah, well...
